Queen of Trailer Trash

Updated on February 10, 2015

Trailer Trash

Everything I own,

is either chipped

or cracked,

she says with inverted pride,

holds up a burlap sack-

says, I can use this!

daily exclaims she's trailer trash,

jokes, keep your hands

off my bloney,

better all her hoarded humble mess,

than my brother's hollow pews,

that called cruelty God's will,

sat on top of the heaving pile,

unable to see worth pass him by

far below.

Well, I sit here, in my nominally right mind, with my own apt., a running car, good health.. I receive treatment for depression, and I don't cry buckets like I used to.

I had a boondoggle with the internet company and went on a months long oddessey(sp) of calling tech support, hours of instruction, and they finally got it done yesterday.

I'm proud of the fact there was no fault on my end!

Now, Hy, what is going ON? Beaten up? Grrr. Give me an address, I'll go yell at them!

You too Clark- is the morass of human perfidy thinning a bit?

      Love to all here...

Yes, Clark is right. We miss you and need to know you are well or at least surviving like the rest of us. Much love to you.

Lillian -- please don't forget the "more later". We haven't heard from you or of you in a very long time, and everyone is getting worried.

I love you Lily. You are, in my opinion, a jewel of great worth in many ways. Those who are indeed mindless and see value in material junk know not what they miss. All that and you are one of the finest poets I have ever read. How is Alaska treating you these days? The lower 48 is beating me up pretty bad yet I endure for the ones who depend upon me.

I do not understand. You're the first person I've heard of who has been unable to post. Please send me in list form exactly what you do, step-by-step.

Ah! My vintage Lillian. The conversational yet super-packed language of the poet of the street. You've always struck me as a melodious Bukowski without the scatology--and THAT'S a complement. Wonderful juxtaposition of the "low" person of high integrity and the "high" (literally) person of "no" integrity. Exquisitely smooth transition from the one to the other. This poem is you at your unassuming but powerful best. I really like this poem. Thank you.

Lily, so good to see you on the page, missed you. I see the heaving pile and the sanctimonious onlooker. It's so hard to be humble when the Joneses are watching from their ivory tower.
