Quetzalcoatl - A poem

The first step sinks and then I swallow
The zenith rising with ashes it follows
Come out of the darkness I crawl through the hollow
Its moving away as I stink where I wallow
At another time, in another grace
There were strange days upon me and my body and race
I can hear, as I'm fighting, as I take up the bottle
I am drinking it down with my Quetzalcoatl...

The Devil's just a child who has lost her wings
And an Angel is a miser who stays here to sing

My hair turns to lightning, and it rains down upon me
I embody the tides, when the world wasn't on me
With a translucent tell of vision
At the face off of nations
Every time wrapped up
Our of fire, out of patience
I want scream it out but I swiftly drift
With distinctions drawn wild...with my wide open fists
And I'm washed up on shore...Quetzalcoatl

The Devil's just a child who has lost her wings
And an Angel is a miser who stays here to sing

I see sword in the sky and a saint in the shape
Of a humanoid face in the planet of apes
And when the plans of men fail
To counter the odds
The ages of stone
Turn to ages of mud
Asking a deep sleepwalker in the waiting abyss
To remit, and the Father will not question your fear
As the dreams come out of the little glass bottles
Making my choice just like Quetzalcoatl...

An amazing thought...are you still singing? This would be worth a song...

Yeah, it originally was written as a song, kinda has a bar blues riff with a war drum beat. Thanx for stopping by Mary

Blake when I read it after you published I felt it's rhythm right away and the drum just akes it home.

Been sharing it about, really loved this piece. Bravo

I have always felt that this song captured the essence of what I strive for in lyrics. Something raw, hard hitting, mighty and intellect all flying around like a razor dancing and hallucinating. Drunken with power and childlike violence/ and the rhyme scheme is tough, it took weeks to have each verse come together they way it did . Thanx for your praises. Keep on Hubbing. BLake4d
