Ridin' the Wind!

Updated on December 9, 2014

By: Wayne Brown

Pack up your suitcase; get ready to stride

Dust off that thumb and catch us a ride

hitchin’ to nowhere; thumbin’ back again

Out seeing the world and ridin’ the wind

Crank the old Harley, get the engine a speedin’

We’re off on a trip, headin’ out for Eden

Run down the road and back up it again

Not a care in the world, just ridin’ the wind

Saddle up your pony and be ready to run

We’re ridin’ westbound at first light of sun

Galloping to where the starry sky begins

Soakin’ up the world; ridin’ the wind

Take along Sally and her blonde cousin too

They’re already crazy like both me and you

We’ll have us a time; the money we’ll spend

Takin’ in the world and ridin’ the wind

It don’t matter how you get there long as you go

Hitch a ride with a stranger or someone you know

If you need a ride just call on us my friend

We’ll show you the world while ridin’ the wind

See the hawk up above as it dips and dives

Riding on the thermals way up in the skies

Circling, climbing, then descending again

High above the world, ridin’ the wind

Pull up the anchor and coil up the lines

Roll out the sails, it’s casting off time

Chart the course, let the adventure begin

We’re off to see the world, ridin’ the wind

Life is too short; it just goes by way too fast

Nothing so good will long ever last

So let’s get living with the time left to spend

Let’s see the world and ride on the wind!

@epigramman...I was almost 21 Colin...a junior in college living right in the midst of the love generation of the day. Watching hippies march about on the college campus protesting the war in Vietnam while they hypocritally dressed themselves in Army garb. I appreciate your gratitude for my taking things to the next level. If I do that indeed, it is only because the readers buy into the proposition...I just try to write good stuff! Thanks for all the good words, my friend! WB

..there are a few people here at the HUB who really take it to another level - well, hold on hold on hold on - just a minute - who am I kidding - there is ONLY ONE!!!!!

I won't say the name to upset another 'ordinary' people here - but his initials are C S - lol lol lol lol lol - no actually they're WB!!!!! and this is a personal question WB - how old were you when you first saw Easy Rider - I believe I may have been about 10 years old - I'm 52 now and it was at a drive-in and my parents didn't realize it was restricted to kids but they were in the line-up waiting to get in and the cashier just said to keep moving forward (not to hold up the line) and she charged my dad for three adults ..... lol lol - great soundtrack in that film - actually the film is visonary too - just like your writing - and I managed not to say your name - WB!! But you rule my world - and certainly get the attention of the ladies too - because they all love a good storyteller - and a fine gentleman such as you!!!!

@saddlerider1...Yeah, back then it was all about free love. And, as a country we actually thought we had some problems...I think we would trade them today if given the chance! Thanks for the good words, Ken. WB

Yes those were the days when my hair was long and tied back and I sped down the highways on my ride. My Triumph Bonneville 650 beauty. I loved every minute and so did my girlfriend at the time.

We did a lot of rides together and blew in the wind. We were both wild and flying high in more ways than one:0)) I was born to be wild....Good one Wayne and great video. Denis and Peter at their finest. Bravo..

For a few minutes I was on my bike (a Harley) and riding with the wind. Beautiful poetry. Voted up and awesome.

      Wayne -

Great idea. Unfortunately, all we have here is US19, a very biker unfriendly highway.

      All the Best,

Your verse reminds all of us that time is our most priceless commodity and we must spend it wisely for we can buy no more once it's gone it's forever lost.

OK, Wayne Brown, I'll be back in a few, I'm out the door to buy my leather with all the fringe right now! My saddlebags will be packed by sundown, lol! What a great ride! ~ Laura
