Rainy and Foggy Days

When there are rainy and/or foggy days it depends how much there is and what type there is. Light rain/fog is not bad. I can put up with the light rain.

When I lived in NJ I even put up with storms. It is where I live now that is the problem. When the rain changes into worse storms the trouble begins. Even the thunderstorms can be trouble because they may have lightning which was not stated. The lightning is the problem.

Now we have cloud-to-ground lightning in practically every lightening storm. It knocks down trees, splits trees, causes blackouts, strikes houses/buildings causing fires, etc.

When it is rainy all day it is gray to black and I have to keep the blinds shut using the indoor lights all day.

Foggy is usually not all day. It may be there in the morning, or appear later, but it usually only lasts a couple to a few hours.

This is a link to the question asked by Laura which is the reason why I wrote this. I posted an answer to the question where she asked it but she also mentioned writing a Hub about rainy days - with a poem.

The Types of Rain

We need rain to replenish our source,

It is good refreshment for our rivers and lakes.

That way the humans and animals can revive their thirst,

It also helps to water the plants and flowers.

Heavy rain can make clouds gray,

Which brings about a lousy day.

It is not so bad with either drizzle or showers,

Light rain does not cause the clouds to burst.

With loud thunder the ground it shakes,

Lightning strikes causing harm, of course.

I hate rainy days. I know we need the rain, nothing would survive without water. Hopefully the rainy season is about over and the flowers will spring forth and we will see beauty all around us. YEA..Enjoyed your rainy day poetry....

Hi Ruby, I wrote this as part of my answer to a question and the rainy season is just beginning for me. It rains, actually severely T-storms, most of summer. :-( Thank you for enjoying the poetry.

Love your poem! Oh, here in the deep South, we have the worst torrential downpours ever, especially in the summer with tornadoes and lightning, flash flooding, you name it. It will rain so hard, one has to pull to the side of the Interstate and just wait it out for one cannot see a foot in front! I wrote a poem about it too way back.

Up and more, tweeting and pinning

      Blessings

Oh I love the rain, but I can understand not liking it--I am not a fan of thunder storms actually---hope you stay dry!

Thanks for the beautiful poem, and for taking up my challenge to write one in response to my question!

Rain can really be a love/hate relationship, can't it? Beauty, danger, life-giving, and inconvenience all rolled into one.

Cheers! Thanks for a great poem and article!

You are welcome Laura. It was a challenge all right but I thought of it as a response to your question. It just took a bit to get it all together. I do not mind the rain, even thunder is okay, it is the lightning which I dislike. Thank you for approving my poem and article. I wrote them just for you! LOL

Oh I do not mind the light rain and thunder. It is the severe storms with lightning and wind gusts which I hate. I get them all summer. I will stay dry because I stay inside and find a safe part of the house for those storms. Thank you for stopping by Audrey.

I know what you mean Faith, those are the ones which I was talking about. I never heard of cloud-to-ground lightning until I came here. In NJ I did not pay much attention to lightning. Luckily I do not drive in it, I just stay inside in a safe place and watch, or listen, to the weather.

      Thanks for the votes.

Only the severe rain affects my mood - all of it effects my electric bill. (grin) I am glad that you liked it.

      Pretty and insightful!

I like rainy days once in a while, but I get blue easily from overcast skies. So I voted for Sun.

Thanks again. I like the rain now and then also since we need rain. What I hate is the lightning - that is the dangerous part. I am in Georgia and I do not have to tell you when we get cloudy days with wind it is sunny-cloudy-sunny-cloudy... all day.

Oh how I love your poetry Kevin. This winter we had torrential rain causing much flooding;the worst rainfall for decades. I do not like rain but loved your poem .Voting up, across and sharing.

Enjoy your weekend and lots of love from Wales.

Thank you Eiddwen. I have not written anything because I am working on a Hub which is taking longer than I thought, but I think I am almost done. I appreciate your votes. :-) I am sorry for all of that rain, my winter here was basically cold.

I am supposed to have a sunny, warm weekend here. I hope that you do too after your rainy winter.

Hi Kevin, there is a well known saying, "It never rains but it pours". That's what it can be like here in Australia. We often have years of drought with the cattle dying from thirst and lack of food, crops failing due to lack of water. When we finally get rain it is a cause for celebration, but sometimes this is short lived when the rain becomes torrential and we end up with floods. We used to get most of our rain in Summer, but the climate has changed so it rains when least expected. Interesting hub, voted up.

Hi Jodah. My sorrows to all of you and your cattle in Australia. I thought we had it bad here in my US state where we practically go 3 seasons without rain and then it is severe storms all summer. This year may be different, winter was longer and rain began in spring. Sorry again for your weather but thanks for your votes. I wish you luck with better weather.

As long as it is not strong thunder and lightning then I can sleep in it too.

I love rain and thunder and lightening. Sometimes the thunder shakes the ground so hard it sets all the car alarms in the parking lot off (I live in an apartment complex). The harder it thunders and the more the lightening snaps, the better I like it.

Drizzle and light rain only barely get things wet and make a mess, they don't do any good. I like it to pour, and here in Texas it will have you soaked to the skin before you can blink your eye. It doesn't fiddle around and gets right to the point.

Have only experienced one fire and one tree splitting from lightening. Car accidents are far more likely and do more harm, killing far more people than lightening.

My first husband was struck by lightening twice, both times in his home as a teenager while he was looking out the window. While that can be lethal and is for some people, it never seemed to affect my husband.

Interesting poem and viewpoint. I love a rainy day and you are just the opposite. Takes all kinds of people to make the world go 'round . . . :)

Like I said, rain and thunder did not bother me in NJ but in GA we get severe storms all summer with cloud-to-ground lightning & tornado warnings. I sleep on the stairs at night, away from windows, waiting for them to pass.

Thank you for reading the poem Au fait, I am glad that you liked it.

I do not call this perfect Peachy. When I am in the kitchen by the sink I cannot get light in and the light does not work so it is a lousy day for me at mealtime. I do not like cloudy, foggy days, I prefer sunshine. Anyway, thank you for stopping by and reading this.

      Have a nice day. :-)
