Random Thoughts and Ideas on Life

Being an avid reader and a keen observer of life has added value to my experiences and helped me form ideas on my own.

Today I have taken upon myself to collate a few ideas to write an article on life. My intention is to create a uniquely interesting piece of writing by combining various ideas. Like the proverbial bundle of logs that signifies, “United we stand, divided we fall.” Only the bundle, in this case, is the article about life and the logs are ideas.

I hope to soothe the tired mind looking for something refreshing or the idle mind seeking a passing interest. However, I also hope to enjoy the process of writing for myself.

A Power Mine – The Mind

Let’s start by talking about emotions and experiences. We experience certain emotions as we go through situations and happenings in our life. We then either react or do nothing in the light of those emotions. This results in further happenings and emotions and the chain goes on, minute-after-minute, day-after-day, and experience-after-experience.

So, logically it follows that if we change the way we feel and react, we can change the resulting experience and thereby our life.

For example, of the many students who fail, there are some who take up the challenge with a renewed zeal and come out successful. Some others change their priorities and succeed in their chosen field. Still there are others who practically do nothing at all and lead life as comes, and name it fate.

Take another example, supposing there is a bank robbery, or a company that fails, or even an accident or natural disaster. There would be many people who are badly affected. But even then, some of them would definitely get back on their feet, rise, and shine whereas many others would wallow in self-pity and live a doomed life thereafter.

I am not saying that destiny has no place in our life. All I am trying to say is that we do have within us the power to change our lives. That power is our mind, which is a power mine in the true sense. It is capable of performing miracles. Take up any success story. You will be amazed to find that in each case it was the power of the mind that had brought about success. Right from dreaming to conceptualizing each step toward the carefully planned goal, taking the right actions at the right time, it was the amazing mind power that was being harnessed. The result each time was success attained.

The people who know this mold their emotions and experiences to create a life of their choice.

What about you? Are you ready to transform your life? You already know the first step. When you take it, the rest will follow.

Happiness

For some strange reason, it is right at this moment while I am writing, I am able to fully understand and appreciate why scriptures assert and wise people drill into us the importance of being happy and positive. Granted, there is so much negativity around us. Granted, the negative forces rule our being from within too. But that is precisely why we need to balance it out doggedly with a positive mindset. Another equally powerful reason is that positive forces attract even more positivity and hence lead us to growth and fulfillment of our life’s purpose.

Do you think it is possible to study well or prepare an effective presentation in a grumpy mood? Can a doctor treat his patient properly when he is seething with anger from within? No. We can go on multiplying the examples to prove how important it is to be happy.

That calls for some willful action. Find out what makes you happy and make an effort to do it. Whether it is reading, sharing jokes, watching comedy shows or playing with kids, make it a part of your daily routine. It is only when you are in a happy state of mind that you are able to do things that make life meaningful. By the way making someone happy is a tried-and-tested method to bring happiness.

Be the reason for a million smiles, says one quotation. But I say, at least start with one. Then you will see how you start smiling too!

Friends and Friendship

Which is the best relationship? If you ask me, my answer is friendship. And I am sure I am not alone in feeling so. Although I am yet to meet a person who will give a different answer, I would say nine out of ten people feel the same. What about you?

If you try to recall some of the best moments of your life, you would see that a major part would be the ones spent with friends.

The reason for this is not hard to find. Friendships always start with mutual appeal and there is mutual respect and love. Communication between friends is always easy-going as there is a natural acceptance for each other’s shortcomings. Friends do not support wrong-doings but do not nag each other all the time.

Won’t you say people bloom in the company of friends? Don’t you feel friends nurture each other? To some people, what is life without friends?

But to me, friendship is a part of every other relationship in our life. To the extent we are mutually comfortable, accepting, and nurturing in a relationship friendship is a part of that relationship. So, we should consciously strive to bring the elements of friendship in all our relationships. No doubt, for best results the efforts must be made from both sides.

What say, friends, I hope my article has served its purpose. Can you guess whether I enjoyed writing this piece? You are absolutely right if your answer is yes.

Now it is entirely up to you, if you wish to cherish it as an enjoyable write-up or let it add some value to your life.

Truly said, Ms Poonam Malik, we often confront and show the difference of opinion for silly matters. If we cast off these things, we can be happy always and make others too happy. Together when we watch, the world becomes a very happy and friendly place to live. Thank you for sharing thought-provoking information.

Happiness, sadness, wealthiness, poorness, friendliness, they're all in our control. If we think that we're happy, happy things happen around us. And if we think negatively about our lives, all the pessimistic things will start happening.

The idea is to always think positively and in the right direction. The definition of life can be countless. But the idea remains the same. To lead a happy and wealthy life, you must have a strong purpose. Thank you for enlightening us with your personal feelings and thoughts, Ms. Poonam.

Was I happy reading this hub? You guessed it right. The answer is positive; as positive my mind can be. Your hub was very soothing and sensible.

I often hear people blaming fate for their situation in life when I personally know they have done nothing to change it. I wish these people have this self- realization that life is what we make it. Actually, it is simple, if we don't walk we will be standing in the same spot forever. Fate, destiny, or the entire universe won't be able to help us.

Thanks, Poonam Ji, for this wonderful hub. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to many more insightful and delightful hubs like this from you. All the best Ma'am.
