Reach Out For The Sun (poem)

Updated on August 13, 2013

Reach out for the sun

The promise of morning

The richness of day

Those things of some past

Float off in their dreams

They beckon us in

With familiar warm arms

To share their fate

While shadows in the street

Await some sign of light

Forgotten in a mirror

Covered with gallant words

Which no one can eat

Crying reminders

Which scars a bleeding heart

With promise and hope

Of deeds left undone

By something lost in sand

And so it unfolds

The weight of the undone

Those aging wish I woulds

When all the time it’s calling

Reach out for the sun

It reminds me of the prayers for forgiveness for the sins of omission as well as commission. Perhaps we can catch up and do a few of those things that we should have done and didn't. A thoughtful poem.

As we grow older we often look back. We often say, "I wish I had of..."

You are tellin us to keep moving forward and to reach for the sun. I like your message. Voted up, beautiful and shared,

It begs the question; If we could do it all over again, would we?

      Nice work, Martin.

Sometimes life's opportunties are right in front of our face. We just need to be willing to see and reach for it. Nice message, Martin,.

Excatly, what Jan said! I had to read this through twice, because it grabbed me.

A powerful message of painfully moving forward. So difficult. Well done from the heart. Voted up and beautiful.
