Reading a Good Book

Updated on July 2, 2017

Experience

Much reading
Much reading

Experience the pages

Reading a good book can take you to different times and places. You learn of time periods, fashion trends, foods, relationships, other cultures and races. Therein, you often find what it's like to be in someone else's shoes. And, possibly find some good coping tools. For books are filled with all things that happen in life. The joys, the pains, the laughter and strife. They give us knowledge where we may have none and enlightenment and enrichment where we have some.

I like the look of them living upon and lining my shelves. And, when I'm seeking information and edification, it joys my soul that into a good book I can delve into. It's an epiphany experience when you find the answers you seek. Your consciousness expands and your world no longer seems bleak. When reading a book, your imagination is the movie! The words per page are your dialogue and narration.

Picture it, while you're reading it, the characters come to life and act their roles in your mind.

Hear it, if they're happy or sad; angry or glad, sweet loving and kind, or twisted and of a psychotic mind.

You feel where they are, get an idea of what they're going through. How one character relates to another. The bond, or lack thereof between sisters and brothers. We smile when they're laughing, playing or saying something comedic. We cry and feel fear when they experience things horrific.

WE ROCK, when characters party or go to a jammin' concert. When they're being approached by danger, our reader button is pushed and we quicken to alertness. We feel the heat of a hot summers day and the coolness of a backyard or park pool. We relate to their peer pressures in school.

We feel the chill of a cold winters day. The comfort of an afghan and a cup of hot beverage and see and feel the warmth of the fire in the fireplace as we hear the wood crackling away. Whatever they, the characters see, hear, touch, taste, smell, feel and experience, we are taken in by it all. That's what a good book does after all.

Hubpages are like that, they invite you in. To share in the knowledge and experience of other hubbers and the possibility of making a new on-line friend.

So, make a cup of hot beverage or a glass of sizzling soda. Take a seat with your computer and come on over! We look forward to meeting and greeting with you. To share in the knowledge of you. Of becoming a part of our community. To place in the sky of these hubpages, your star.

Hi, I dropped by to read this again. Very refreshing. I haven't read a book for a while (even though I read a lot of articles online). You have reminded me to find a good motivational book to read over the summer months.

      Best Wishes. :)

True. There's nothing like a good book. Danielle Steele is one of the author's who captivates me. I could forget where I am reading her books. I get totally immersed.

As you noted, Hubpages is also like a book. There are lots of Hubs, I would just like to print and put in a big folder. I've actually bookmarked them and one day will print them all out.

      Lovely Hub. :)

Thank you for taking the time to read my hubs!

I am really glad you enjoyed this one! Me, I get lost in books and movies (that's why sometimes I have to watch a movie more than once to see what I missed because sometimes a particular scene will just take my imagination to places that are not even showing up on the screen LOL!

I love reading because I can get lost in a book which never happens watching a TV show. I can get very involved in a good movie however. HubPages are a nice place to be also. Good hub.
