Regrets, I have many

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

In actions I lament,

my past,

the painful learning,

of life’s departures,

the drawing out

of dark realities,

undisclosed

to waking minds.

I have been remiss

in recognising my faults,

and holding tightly

to my ego,

and the misjudgement of worth.

I regret my hast,

in making decisions,

based on what I

like to think,

rather,

what resides in truth.

The hurt I have caused,

was unintentional,

fruitless

and destructive.

A young perspective,

often fraught

with green intent.

The love’s I’ve lost,

I regret most,

unwillingness

to strive

for conciliation,

a deep sadness.

But where I am,

Is a path born

of my mistakes,

a path driven by fate,

my ineptness,

and the lessons of life.

My regrets

are just my bleating heart,

my melancholia,

my ‘if only’ mind.

Wherever I reside,

It is by my own hand,

my decisions.
