Rekindling the Flames of Love

Updated on July 11, 2014

There was a time

So very long ago

When life was so grand

His love filled the minutes and the hours

Made the nights so wonderful

Never a worry

Always words full of love

And shared tender kisses

Then came the lies

The nights when he was gone

Left her wondering

What was going on?

The day he broke her heart

She was tossed from comfort

Her heart broken in two

The smoldering fires of passion

Were now doused and cold

It was the time

She locked her heart away

Threw the key far from her

No more nights of love

No more days of trust

She shut love from her life

Day seemed endless

And nights were cold

Her dreams filled with the man

Who had shattered her life

Into this world of turmoil

He stepped

To see a beautiful lady

Eyes full of tears and pain

But the moment he saw her

The moment she said hello

His heart was filled with love

And he vowed to bring back

The flames of love to her

She was so scared

Like a frightened bird

She trembled the first time

He held her hand

She couldn’t bring herself to share kisses

She had lost the way to love

He took it easy and slow

Nights by candlelight

And dancing with the lights down low

As one year slipped away into another

She was finally ready to come to him

She was ready to love again

And their first night of passion

Was like a stormy summer night

As the wind blows

And the thunder and lightning flash

As the flames of love

Were once again ignited

And love was all that mattered

To find love again after betrayal is a good thing. To be loved like never before is a story without end. Glad she found love again.

      Keep writing...

Beautiful poem. It takes a while to trust again but if you make sure things are right at last, then the fireworks start!

You convey the emotions of rejection and then love rediscovered; lovely.

Gypsy, a beatful poem, trust is hard to regain once lost, but I guess if the love is true and strong, nothing else matters. What a lovely way to greet the new day! My best to you.

You seem well versed with the Subject, Gypsy (smile)

      Another extremely beautiful one.

Just one thing and I was pretty bad at this but I'm improving. I'm talking about presentation. Try to create another capsule so that this beautiful poem does not look too crowded.

Maybe you can separate some lines by creating a stanza or two. Not too many. Perhaps Bill can advise.

Just a loving suggestion. Because it's long, it may benefit from a little separation hereand there. Loving thoughts.
