Release the Eagle

Updated on February 14, 2017

Once was so very proud and to fly so freely, high in the widest blue skies,

The weakened eagle now sits, behind bars, this a time we all so despise.

Kept penned up in a cage of iron, not allowed to move, to stretch its wings,

A sad day for all of us to see... if only we could improve a thousand things.

Now darker days, blackest of nights, now loom on the horizon, is so severe,

Those times of the nightmares and terrible dreams, in our minds do appear.

The more joyful times, so full of happiness, now seem to have slipped away,

We each one long for the best of our memories, escape these hours so grey.

These feelings of an insecurity, uncertain of just what our futures may hold,

Are a stressful and discouraging misconnection, for no paradigm to unfold.

People who were so disillusioned, all fooled, feeling then as only a buffoon,

Everyone now is to be made aware, seems listening to a world out of tune.

As the mighty eagle does so represent, the most powerful and the magnificent,

We shall each rise as the brilliant phoenix in the skies, then all as if heaven sent.

Cards of a false configuration, now come falling down, to be exposed in the end,

Like one domino to drop, negative intents all do flop, not a lost cause to defend.

This poem was written in September 2011. It now so applies to today's world. We will arise from the ashes and soar as the eagle once again...

We may be scratched up a bit, but we're not broken. If each person makes his/her personal world right, we will not only survive, but thrive.

Great poem, full of evocative words. 9/11 was indeed a day that changed the world and now it seems we have to deal with such things more often. I like the idea of the cards falling down. Great imagery.
