Remember It's The Thought That Counts

Updated on December 19, 2012

We can only do so much in one day

Why not do the things that make us feel so good

The little thoughts that make their way to bigger thoughts without trying

It all starts with a feeling

Sometimes hard or impossible to describe

A notion that some how, some way we will be a better person

For doing something we weren't asked to do

Even when we could be doing so many other things

The reason why is simple

We feel a deep sense of pride and accomplishment

A satisfaction that makes are body tingle with new found energy

A hidden drive that just kicks in

A pleasure out of just having a purpose

To help and to care

To think of new ways to share

If it is holding the door for someone

Offering a hand when their walk might not be steady or just giving them help when they least expect it

Doing something they normally do

Picking up a broom to sweep

Shoveling snow so that don't have to

It is my way of saying thank you for helping me

When I needed help you were there

You are also very busy and have so many other things to do and places to go

You found your way to me as I find my way to you

I remember when you made the time to help me

Good deeds never go unrewarded

They are flled away in a book I call Just For Trying

Then one day not anytime soon

You might be in a jam or be a little down and out

Then that's when you least expect it

A more than wonderful thing happens

You have been helped and everything in life seems worth it

So as the day continues and we all lead our own separate lives

Don't be surprised

If someone offers you a helping hand and in return don't forget there is one thing needed

A one big thank you

You both leave a changed person and life is more special and interesting

As it was magic and all that you needed was a tap of a magic wand and presto

Everything comes out right

It's those Christmas angels that give us the magic and a lot of that Christmas spirit.

This seems to be so perfect for the holiday season, although it's easily applied to every day life, too. Great job!

DREAN ON..Another great job in getting the message out..the old adage " do unto others as you would have them do unto you" live your life this way and do not expect anything in return and you may be plesantly surprised, if you are least you can say you did it your way...I live by the beat of my own drum and am estatic when others react to my world of thought/action..very well done my friend..have a wonderful Wednesday..and Happy Holidays..

Voted up, useful, and awesome! What a great hub right before the holidays when people seem to be busier than usual and tend to forget the little things. Well said, loved this!
