Remember Freedom’s Fields (poem)
Remember fields where once we use to play
The freedom of our hopes was by our side
Quite strangely they seem different today
-
Well seasoned sunshine took us far away
We saw tomorrows dazed and starry eyed
Remember fields where once we use to play
-
There were ideals which we could not betray
Within our hearts was carried heroes’ pride
Quite strangely they seem different today
-
What children would enjoy soldiers would pay
So cherished dreams would never be denied
Remember fields where once we use to play
-
Confusion came and dreams have lost their way
The monuments and reason people died
Quite strangely they seem different today
-
And here we are to wander our dismay
As blood familiar comes with every tide
Remember fields where once we use to play
Quite strangely they seem different today
