Remembering Donna Summer

Updated on October 16, 2012

Don’t know why your life was so short
Don’t know why God took you you so soon
Do know you introduced me to disco
And made me want to be a disco queen too
Donna you were like the fresh breath of summer
Like a new inspiration to all of us dancing queens
Your music played like a symphony to me
And I wanted to dance the whole night through
All of your songs made me feel alive and young
I enjoyed every moment I thrilled with every beat
There could be no tribute greater to a disco queen like you
Than sharing the songs I liked the most
You left the cake too long out in the rain
And now all that sweet icing is melting down
My tears taste bitter sweet just thinking of you

The song I danced to the last time I discoed
To the lights shining upon the disco floor
Holding on to the one I loved
Wonderful memories that remain forever in my heart

And finally when you gave me the courage to go on
With the wonder of your voice and music resounding in my ears
And yes I will survive only wish you had too

Thank you Donna for these and so many more songs to treasure
Let all the stars in heaven disco tonight

Beautiful tribute Gypsy. Donna was a wonderful talent. When it came to performing, she was on another level. Her voice, it would just blow you away. She will be missed.

That is a beautiful Tribute to Donna, Rose. I did not know Donna so well but from what you say, she was an icon in her time and age, we all have those and they continue to impact us even when we are grown.

BonyM, Abba, Bee Gees and Donna Summer - 4 singers that I could listen to anytime even today. I was crazy about her songs (who can forget 'hot stuff' and 'Queen for a day'?) and then I graduated to the punk rock bands of the 80s who I mostly listen to.

A very nicely done tribute. Thank you for sharing.

Glad you liked this tribute Faith Reaper. Her music will live on forever. Getting stiff as the years roll by now I could use a disco revival. God bless.
