Free Poetry from Shonah Milne Melton - Christmas Idea
The day had arrived and I shouted for joy,
Presents would be mine and many a toy,
I’d play and eat all day long,
With a happy heart and a mindless song.
The day would pass in a blur of bliss,
It would be the day about “ME” this Christmas.
I’d have it all – I’ll have a ball,
And at the end of the day, I’ll shut the door,
To my heart, my mind, my very soul,
Never to think of the very first Noel.
Until the shopping spree hit the next December,
Then all of a sudden I’ll choose to remember,
A little of Christ – just enough to get me by,
Leaving the heavens weeping with a heartfelt cry.
For all Christ asks in return from me,
Is my devotion for His sacrifice in Gethsemane,
So how did you fare this coming Christmas season?
Will you keep perspective and all within reason?
