Respite From The Daily Grind

Updated on July 7, 2017

When there seems too much of stress

Our life's burdens are at their heaviest

Just more than we can humanly bear

Like our hearts to burst from our chest

If we could only take a break, a respite

Leave behind, all of our troubles to forget

Hiding away on some small desert isle

Living in a forgetfulness, state of denial

Would we be living in our world of make believe

Only one of us to be of a mindfulness to deceive

That of fantasy as a childlike mind's point of view

Never mistakes to be made, things to run askew

Sleeping in our hammocks, waking up with the sun

Walking on shell-strewn beaches, having much fun

Counting clouds and watching porpoises frolicking

Seeing beautiful sun-ups and sundowns all to stun

A place where there's no worry or care, about our job to do

No nine-to-five aggravation, as in our childhood we all grew

Catching our food in the surf, cooking meals on an open fire

Never to worry about having to move, going where we desire

Ours to dwell in states of happiness, every day better than before

We could each live to be a hundred, for what this all has in store

Never to suffer from one medical ailment, well, all our time to be

Suntanned, healthy all of our lives, each new morning we do see
