Return To Light: A Poem

Updated on May 31, 2012

Return To Light

Rendezvous at a small café

Moods change immediately

She smiles at me, kisses my cheek

Her speech chimes in a light breeze

My hand waves, wind in palms

Create the calm eye of a storm

Hands of time applause

Another rhyme

I retire

My old words I disdain

Stones don’t hurt, I’m used to pain

Drenched in rain, stains on my shirt

Dark blue jeans covered in dirt

My skin the same color as earth

Waters run beneath the surface

Lost in memory, she inspires

My present attention

In the presence of greatness

Are wisdom and purpose

I wonder what she sees in me

As the evening approaches

The sunsets on her shoulder

A friend I have been

Loyal I remain

Smiles refrain what eyes can’t hide

Tides change with the grain

Flames behind the glass

Dance in her glance

I am inspired

My heart beats as she blinks

She teases me with gravity

Releases me into space

I originate from and return

To the sun before she’s done

We collide as stars align

Plummet to the pavement

Embrace as we disintegrate

Climax in that moment

Return to light

I'm feeling the similes and imagery in this piece. This must be some special woman you was writing about. Very poetic but sounds erotic at the same time. Vote up. Much Love and Respect
