Ripple: A Poem

Updated on June 27, 2017

Ripple

Plunk

Slow motion, I watch, as the stone falls into the depths

Like a dying leaf, floating down, down, down...

Waves of death, or waves of rebirth I do not know

For my friends or for my foe?

I do not know

The wave, the splash, the stone, they all know

But not me

All I know is the water, that splashes at my feet

And the fish in the pond they know

The moss on the stones, it knows

But not me

All I know is the water, that splashes at my feet

I'm a leaf in a tree, a stone in a palm

I don't know what I'll do when I fall

Will I splash?

Will I sink?

Will I crumble?

Or will I cause a ripple?
