Rivers: A Poem

Updated on May 8, 2014
Source

Rushing rivers flow around the world,

Flowing into the ocean,

Like thoughts of you that flood my mind,

But only drown my heart,

2 tributaries, side by side,

But never touching,

We only meet in the deep, dark ocean,

The great ocean of humanity,

Waves like heartbeats lapping on the shore,

The rhythm of reaching arms that never find their source.

      Erin,

      "...We only meet in the deep, dark ocean…"

      "…heartbeat…" "…rhythm of reaching arms…"

      Patterns of correlation move along very nicely here.

      The ocean has such a great responsibility;

      I am glad I am not commander of it.

      Thank you for your riverformed words.
