HL Keeley has received a Bachelors Degree in Middle Grades Education. She has just completed her first year teaching.

My grandfather with my my mother (far left) and my twin aunts.
My grandfather with my my mother (far left) and my twin aunts.

Every key has a distinct note

When put together they create a beautiful song

A song that can express emotions without words

But it is as soft as it is strong.

Just like the keys on a piano

You created a song that will continue to play

The song of baby’s cries and angry fights

Broken hearts and wedding days.

My grandfather on the left with my sister (middle) and me (right)
My grandfather on the left with my sister (middle) and me (right)

And though you are gone

You are still very much here

In our hearts and the signs you send

Let us know that you are near.

My grandfather in the Navy.
My grandfather in the Navy.

So we will fight on

Fight on ‘till we won,

Play the final notes

Until we are done.

We will live with your lessons

We will live with you

We will live

We will.

Hail yes!

Hi Heather, I'm Sam from across the mountain (Tennessee). I really enjoyed your poem. I like the way it flowed and felt the love you instilled as you pinned it. I wish you much success with your writings, your career and your future...;)
