Rose Tinted Skew

Updated on November 21, 2011
Source

In search of fairness I look in vain.

Why do the bad prosper while the good suffer pain.

I search for justice but it is not evenhanded.

Money tips her scales making me feel so jaded.

But I pick myself up and adjust my warped view,

And try to look at life through a rose tinted hue.

Passion, love, sacrifice and loyality do truly abound.

But they are more humble so are less easily found.

They are worth seeking to restore my belief

That goodness of people will defeat any thief.

This hub is a little out of step with my usual content but having read a few of the poems of Justin aka pdxkaraokeguy I decided that I should at least make a some attempt to expand my writing horizons albeit even on a very small scale.

amber- rhyming is a skill. sometimes a poem calls for rhyme, sometimes it doesn't. I prefer not to rhyme because it gives me more freedom with the language. I don't feel the rhymes take away form the story, in fact, I think they work well. Take it case by case and, whatever you do, don't use lazy or cliche rhymes!

      Hi Justin

Thank you for your carefully chosen words, although it tells a story I perhaps feel my unfounded need to make it rhyme has detracted from the message I wanted to convey.

amber, this is a nice poem. I also like that it's short and that you choose your words carefully. Those are my favorite traits in a poem!

      Thanks Pamela.

It is important to focus on the good things to block out the bad.

Good will prevail, if not externally then as a flame that burns internally and keeps us going strong in the knowledge that we do not step on the others toes.

I really like your poem as I see the goodness in many people that is so uplifting at a time when there are so many major problems in our world.
