Salvation (A Poem)
Salvation
How have I become this?
The person that I am...
At one time delivered into temptation,
Just so many things I could not resist.
Grasping for the stars be damn.
I had to take some time for contemplation.
Looking up at a bible black, sun-streaked sky,
This is a moment, not a "why, God why."
You light the way with your essence,
Worshipping around the fire, dancing in the dark,
While the passionate flames burn ever higher.
I'm inspired by your very presence,
The reminder of being close to you is stark.
My confession to you; you saved me by your desire.
I never felt sacrificed by your own hand.
You shook me to my core, the feeling I can't withstand.
I hear your voice whisper in the wind,
Blazing across the dark ocean of time.
Consumed by you, and left trapped in limbo.
My expressions of you, I can not rescind.
Losing my step, I fall even further behind.
Your words are etched on me in verse and symbol.
Come and set me free,
Take my hand and rescue me.
