Saved? Then What? Salvation Unto Holiness (Poem)

Updated on August 27, 2015

1 Peter 1:14-16

English Standard Version (ESV)

14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

"Salvation to Holiness"

Jesus Christ was crucified,

Jesus rose again, 3 days after He died

We are saved by His holy and perfect sacrifice

His love, His grace, His mercy, His all,

Expressed to its highest degree, perfectly and infinitely,

And it was all for sinners, such as you and me

Then we are saved, O Praise Him! How Faithful is He!

What are we then to do in the midst of our joyous glee?

Shall we continue to walk in the way of sin?

Or will we live a life pleasing to Him?

After all, He just gave us His all!

What audacity do we have to ignore His Holy call?

Far be it, that we be ingrates, and so live a defeated unholy life,

When we were set free, bought with a precious price!

Created and saved, to be with Him; to sing His praises, flowing with love, from and for Him.

For His justice was satisfied, His love expressed,

What glory belongs to His perfect Holiness!

For through Christ, our King, we are now redeemed!--not to go further away, but to come closer His way.

To receive back what we have lost, for He has paid the cost.

Now, listen close, we were not saved just to throw it away, and so grieve His precious heart,

We were saved to live holy, to walk in His way; to be conformed in Him and not be apart,

To enjoy Him forever, doing His blessed will,

By this, we will fully experience our new life in Christ, guarded by the Holy Spirit’s seal.

To Him be the glory forever and ever!

Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord!--who is and was, and is to come~!

Soli Deo Gloria

Matthew 16:24-26

English Standard Version (ESV)

Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus

24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life[a] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul

Through Christ, we are made holy in our standing before God. We are then called to live holy lives by His grace. 1 -Jerry Bridges
