Sanctuario in the desert ...... verse

Updated on August 22, 2015

Into the desert along the plateau
I searched long and hard if for no other reason
seeking the perfect arroyo along
dry riverbeds of my soul
my destiny this path alone
One image in my mind
I would know it when I arrived
one need in the incompleteness of a heart
to touch the silent and gentle
hand of god

No words would be needed nor offered
for words can no longer heal nor harm
No visions of extended fasting
no bible in my hand
simply one lonely man in solitude
one heart with no bottom
and soul with no end
to the pangs of this living

I would find that sanctuario
that one place where there are no lines
nor reasons required
the high desert solitude where the colors of
the sun dress the stone and sand
the winds ever constant
push me onward

Those spiritual dancers of the sublime
the angels of the desert
dressed in white and they might take
my weathered hand
and guide me to a place of peace
where that embrace of all time the
only one that heals

An a she angel leads me onward until tired
and yet no longer alone I arrive
into the embrace of sanctuary
where souls of fire meet the sea
and the sea draws away
until all that is left is one thought
I have found this place
my desert sanctuario
