Say Your Grace
What is Grace?
What does it mean when you say a grace before meal? Well in the world of Christianity, Grace has many meanings. Let's look at a few:
"Grace is free sovereign favor to the ill-deserving.”(B.B. Warfield)
“Grace is love that cares and stoops and rescues.”(John Stott)
“[Grace] is God reaching downward to people who are in rebellion against Him.”(Jerry Bridges)
“Grace is unconditional love toward a person who does not deserve it.” (Paul Zahl)
But what does a grace before meal really means. From all what I have read and understood from the concept of saying Grace before meals. It means to acknowledge the creator and the provider who has given unto us unconditionally. Whatever Christians believe God has given unto them which they are unworthy of is Grace from God.
Food is given to us from God unto humanity who is not worthy. Hence we have to deeply thank God for his grace and mercy in providing us a meal.
Let's Say Grace
God is good
God is great
Let us thank him for this food
Bless us, O Lord! and these Thy gifts
which we are about to receive from Thy bounty,
through Christ our Lord.
Lord Jesus, our brother, We praise You for saving us. Bless us in Your love As we gather in your Name, and bless this meal that we share.
Jesus, we praise you for ever.
Thank you for this gracious meal prepared.
Bless the hand of the provider and the prepare.
Thank you O Lord
The Provider and carer
Bless this food that we are about to consume
in the name the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
A grace is not set in stone as it is just a prayer thanking God for his provision. You can go a head and create your own grace to say before mealtime.
