Scrap The Old In With The New

Updated on July 29, 2015

Where Do We Stand ?

There comes a time

Where clearly things didn't work as we had planned

Running it over in our heads

Like the most annoying commercial

Thousands of times

Baffled as to why

Not one step closer than we were ten years ago

How is that not possible ?

We have failed

So miserably we can't even come to grips with our own reality

It is so far away from our true goal

Now only as close as the clouds in the sky

Once so large

We thought for sure we would be the first to touch one

They weren't a dream

We can see them clearly

Looking us in the eyes

Day after day

We could hear ourselves mumble

Today is the day

As the cob webs dangle in the corner of your kitchen

How did I not see ?

Something right in my face

I was distracted by life

The news

The people

That's not me

That's not who I am or want to be

I was side tracked

Now once again

I reclaim what is rightfully mine

A part of me

A dream that cries in my sleep

An awakening that I welcome with open arms

I will find a new way

The time has come

The transformation that could not be rushed

Gaining experience and wisdom

That can not be taught

Moving up and beyond

To a new revived spirit

One that will always lead you in the right direction

So pick yourself up

Rise to the warm breeze that itches your nose

The hot sun beating on your back

Blazing it's way

Not a choice of wanting to

Because it has to

Voted up and beautiful. To get on with life we must always pick ourselves up by the boot straps and keep going to achieve all that we want.

MsDora As the time ticks away we know longer even hear the noise. Times have changed where most people don't even where a watch. I enjoy a good discussion when two people talk about their day. Those days seem so far and few between. Now every young person is busy on their cell phone. I loved receiving post cards from relatives when they went away. I loved sending them when it was my turn. Now instantly everyone knows where people are in seconds. I am happy I was able to experience life at a slower pace. Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughtful comments. I try to bring the world through the eyes of opportunity chocolate covered with happiness..

Koffee Klatch Gals Every time I type in your name I uncontollably giggle. Try to say Koffee Klatch Gals ten times fast I know I can't. My life is full of the unknown. Some parts of life I remember when I'm doing things then as time passes I soon forget. Then there are things I never get. Then there are things I thought I figured out. Later I find out I was all wrong. So I start each day with my best foot forward just incase I have to step back in a hurry.(lol) Really so I can race ahead to make up for lost time. No that's not entirely true either. I do it because I sprained the other foot. It's the only foot I have left. What I am trying to say is thank you for reading my stories/poems I call them Stoems. It is so nice to see comments and other people who know what I am trying to say. God knows I am 990 pieces shy of a 1000 piece puzzle. Hey I got 10 pieces. That's more than I had when I started. Have a wonderful afternoon and stay cool. It's 93 here.

Missy Smith It is our mistakes that make us better. We learn to adapt and change. Sometimes change does not come at the speed we had hoped and opportunities once available have now passed. Thank you for reading and understanding my poem. I always thought I would share my dreams with my mom and dad. Both have passed away before I turned my greatest passion into reality. I spent most of my time working overtime thinking earning more money would give me the opportunity to do more. When really all I wanted to do is spend time with my mom and dad making their life easier so they wouldn't have to work so hard. Making them proud of their son and appreciating them the best way possible. Have a wonderful night.

I like this poem a lot Dream On. It's very relatable, as I know all of us have gotten caught up in the scheme of a fake world, and can lose the ability to focus on our own lives. Which, as it comes very clear as most of us get older, is the most important part of life. Just to be happy!
