Script of Time - Poem about Life Passing By

Updated on December 23, 2014

Another A.M. Poem . . . .

I've written many poems in the wee hours of the morning, poems which I have referred to before as my collection of "The A.M. Poems." The lateness of the night is often a time when my brain gets going, sometimes erratically, racing, questioning, and often coming to no real conclusions or perhaps coming to a conclusion in a different way . . one I hadn't thought of in the light of day.

Script of Time

In the script of time

the scroll unwinds

unending lines

of foolish rhymes.

Facade of truth

begins at youth

our lives uncouth

cold, aloof.

Live for ourselves

as busy elves

time for the self

and little else.

Very very true, Victoria...the vapid nature of naïve youth....not to be chastized...just recognized...and you've done an excellent job of it! Packed with introspection and reality...I certainly relate! Thank goodness for maturity, huh? All appropriate UPS Victoria!!

There is so much truth in such a compact poem. Thank you. Jamie

Victoria, short and to the point - but a poem like this can only be written in retrospect and with wisdom! Great job.

Fewer words can be the most powerful and provoke more pensive moments.........You have proven this, Victoria with your very special & unique talent. Up & awesome

The last verse is very thought provoking. We seem to be so self absorbed. On the other hand, life is short and we should make the most of it.

Your poem is so very beautiful and thought inspiring. Youth is wild and carefree without any responsibility to pull us down.

Wow! You have made an impact on your readers with this beautiful poem. Powerful and motivating. I am linking this to a poem I wrote a while back " Illusion in a safety net" and will share as well. Thank you Victoria.
