Searching For a Truth

Updated on June 2, 2013

Searching

Sometimes I feel so alone

So completely on my own

Yet I know there must be more

That I haven't found before

Though I cannot see it there

I know it's out there somewhere

I am searching for a truth

One I know I'll find in you

And it's a never-ending quest

To try to put my fears to rest

I want a peace I've never known

To still my ever questioning soul

I pray my journey takes me far

Past the boundaries of my heart

I know that you are real

In my heart it's you I feel

But that's simply not enough

I will always need your love

So tell me what can I do

I want to know more of you

I am searching for a truth

One I know I'll find in you

And it's a never-ending quest

To try to put my fears to rest

I want a peace I've never known

To still my ever questioning soul

I pray my journey takes me far

Past the boundaries of my heart

It's for you that my soul yearns

And it's for you that my heart burns

Yeah, it's you I'm looking for

Lord, it's you that I adore

Father, show me more of you

Because I need you, yes I do

I am searching for a truth

One I know I'll find in you

And it's a never-ending quest

To try to put my fears to rest

I want a peace I've never known

To still my ever questioning soul

I pray my journey takes me far

Past the boundaries of my heart

Beautiful and prayerful! I really like the humble, honest tone and the flow of this poem. Thank you for sharing it, it is something I think so many of use can identify with.

A very beautiful poem. Very "heartful."

I have been reading all this poetry on Hub-pages lately that it inspired me to write a poem of my own. Read my "Questions & Answers about Existence & Life." Although my content and meaning leans slightly in another direction.

HubPages must have it out for me or I'm doing something wrong. Lurana, I had a reply to you that is not showing up. Thank you for coming by to read. I appreciate your support. :)

Oh Shan, this is beautiful!!! This is beautiful in the spiritual sense that you've written of but it really works in so many different contexts! Isn't this how we all feel, about something, at some point(s) in our lives? Always searching, searching for the greater meaning and reasoning. I love it Shan and it has a sweetness to it too!

      Great job girly!

Shanmarie, my snowy owl was painted after I saw one, one winter and I tried to capture its spirit. I like to paint wildlife and when I do capture their true essences, it gives me a truly wonderful feeling, and I may feel as one, with each. Thanks for the nice comment my friend. Your poetry is beautiful.whonu

I know you are the master of the last word but I must say Shan Marie I think this piece reflects your true persona more than anything else I've ever read from you. Even in your comments to me you are 'always' probing deeper and asking all of the main questions: how, why, when, who, what .....

I guess you have the heart of a journalist with that intrepid approach, lol, but you're also one helluva writer.

lake erie time 5:49pm and have a wonderful, happy and safe evening

Um, I'm not sure what to make of that. :-p For the record, I don't always have to have the last word. I will respond on my own hubs pretty much because I can and it is rude not to. ;) As for others, I'll go as long as the conversation seems to invite more; it's enjoyable that way.

Haha. . .yeah. . .sometimes the how's, why's, when's and such. . .is my mind playing devil's advocate, too. ;) I'm not like that as much in person, unless maybe in a classroom-type, discussion oriented setting.

Thank you for your visit and encouragement. It's always most appreciated!
