Send A Message
Long Before Texting Was Cool
Writers have been keeping the art of communication alive
Dropping notes and sending letters to everyone they know
Talking about everything from the weather to a recent trip
Missing you or get well soon
Each time leaving a mark in time
For other people to see how wonderful it is
That we keep the bonds of family and friends
Even years ago there were telegrams for urgent messages
Now fifty years later a new kind of communication
That leaves no paper behind and can be delivered in seconds
Two people can continue to chat for as long as they want
Then as always we have to go
We get busy doing so many things in are life
But when the time arises I am sure there will be more
I am not sure what comes next
Fifty years from now what will make texting out dated and obsolete
Like the old letter in your hand after a mailman delivered it after a three day journey
No stamps needed
No lossed mail and quite the opposite
A quick reply and after that an endless chain of letters to come
But one thing it doesn't have
Is the hand written love that was taken
To make this letter so special
Texts today also have their own language
Where simplicity and speed is the key
Words like you are u
are is r
four is 4
before is b4
When you use capital letters that means you are yelling
Here is only a few that I have learned
As I struggle to text in a world so different
I feel it takes away the passion in writing
Words become a lingo
So many more words are shortened or abbreviated to save time and energy
Who has the time to say I love you
When all you have to say is luv u
In a changing world we have to change with the times
I wonder if we have gone to far and completely lost our minds
