She Ran Into the Night

Updated on April 16, 2013
Source

The year was 2003

The year was 2003 and Liona’s sister had given her money to disappear. Mexico City had gotten dangerous. She had to disappear into the night. Her dad was a mad man the drugs were rampant, she was scared to live, and death seemed so inviting.

‘Cuando estás lleno de ego, el amor desaparece.’

Love does disappear.

She had to get to America, do or die.

The bus ride was twelve hours long maybe longer. She tried to sleep, she tried to forget, for just a few hours but the night mare was in her face.

Exhausted and hungry it had been days since she had her last meal, her nightmare was alive.

The money, her dear sister gave her to escape was the last she had. She would be forever grateful.

The bus came to a stop in the bright lights of Matamorus, she was met by a surly looking man in dark. He needed a bath and he looked very unhealthy. He was downright scary.

As the scary man grabbed her arm she had no choice but to go with him. They ended up in a Catina where she was taking to the back room and stuffed in a closet. Her heart was beating so hard, she was so scared.

Then it seemed like hours later, when the closet door finally opened and the most handsome man was standing there. Although, he was handsome there was a sinister look on his face.

‘Un cobarde es incapaz de mostrar amor; hacerlo esta reservado para los valientes..’

He is a coward at heart, she just knows, and she was so scared.

Ola my little Lichen..’

“You want to go to America?”

He asked her with a smile

Stay with me for a while

I take good care

Take you to my home

Kiss your flowering eyes

Tell you no lies!

You want to go to America?

He asked with s sneer

Just take my hand

As I hold you with a leer

Lies to be told

Hearts to hold!

You want to go to America?

Give me your soul

Holding time still

To hold on your goal

Kissing a ruthless force

Leaving a ugly world

With a nightmare for hire!

Want to go to America?

A traveler unknown

Holding on till tomorrow

Till the land ends

Shattering the bliss

With gunfire galore

You were promised the universe!

To be gentle and unconditional

But you were a liar!

You want to go to America!

Night would come

Days were numbered

As she fled her life to the other side

The water so cold

The pain unbearable

When daylight blossomed

She was found face down

On the other shores

In her own blood!

She made her way to America!

This last day!

This is dedicated for all of those that are trying to find a better life. I have family that have struggled just to live another day and the Good Lord has brought them to America shores so I could love. My life is much richer and I am very much blessed!

But there are those that lose their lives. My heart breaks for them. God help them all!

Woe. This was not only beautiful but a timely reminder of the things people go through on this planet of ours. Some of us don't appreciate how good our lives are. Life can be so hard and unfair.

Such a gut wrenching tale all too common. So many suffering individuals who are victim to more horrendous acts when they are only trying to find a safer and more pleasant way of life.

I am voting up and sharing.
