Shelter Me

Updated on August 11, 2017

This world is cold and beginning to break apart

Shelter me

The way we live now, we forget what’s in our hearts

Shelter me

We struggle to make sense of what we already know

Shelter me

And we stop learning, we no longer can grow

Shelter me

And yet when we think that positive times are near

Shelter me

Another destructive reason brings back our fear

Shelter me

We do not see the future because it is no longer bright

Shelter me

We only know the enemy we have to fight

Shelter me

As missiles are aimed to take away many innocent lives

Shelter me

Tomorrow our after our differences won't matter as our souls rise

Shelter me

And then life is over and the peace is finally here

Shelter me

But for some, it is a burning place of fear

Ardie, the end is a place we all dont want to be. Thanks for checking this poem out and thanks for the kind words.

Oh my. I dont think the end of this poem is very happy, is it? I love the idea of being sheltered and finding peace...where does that peace come from? Lovely poem :)
