Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (1901-1953)

His Life

He was born in Kolkata on 6 July,1901.His father is Mr. Ashuthosh Mukherjee ,who is the first indian vice chanccellor of kolkata university and mother and his mother is Mrs. Yogamayee Devi.

He won all The exams B.A, M.A, M.L in first rank and after that he went to England for upper studies in law.In 1927 he started practising as a barrister in Kolkata.

He is posted as the vice chancellor of Kolkata University in 1934. There is a communal riot between Hindu-muslim in 1934 at east bengal. Mr.Mukherjee went there with help and relief for the victims. He met Sri.Hedgevar the founder of Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh and V.D.Savarkar, foubder hindu Maha Sabha there.That is theturning point Mukherjee's political life. He joined Hindu Maha sabha and be the president of it in no time.

In 1946 he become a member in Preamble committee.After independence Jawwahrlal Nehru formed first union cabinet with all political parties, Mukherjee become industral minister. He resigned on 1950 april 19 from the union cabinet.

He resigned from Hindu Maha Sabha and made a new party,"Bharatheeya Jana Sangham".he become first president of it.

He thought that the problems in Kashmir at that time is by the wrong views of Nehru . He went to Kashmir. the government banned the entry to Kashmir but entered there, police arrest him put in a small hut for 40 days without presenting at court. He got illness there and died on 1953 june 23.

He is famous as an industry minister by helping to make real the chitharanjan locmotive factory and sindhri fertilizer plant.
