Silence is like a knife

Updated on December 29, 2014

It started with weeks

which turned to months.

Now those months

have become over a year.

Not a word in any form.

your silence is like a knife.

I'm not sure what I did

or didn't do.

I long to hear

or read your words.

But there is nothing.

Your silence is like a knife.

Is there more I can do?

I've made overtures to you

but there is no response.

You must know how this hurts me,

your silence is like a knife.

There was another before you,

this I did confess.

But once we were together

there was only you.

Her good-bye to me, dated,

months before you and I met.

Yet I feel you still,

don't believe me.

That too, your mistrust,

is like a knife.

I want nothing from you

other than a warm word or thought.

I want nothing other than

a place in your heart.

For you possess mine

now and forever more.

Days, weeks and months

with no word.

Leaves me sad

and yes, weak.

Cut and bleeding from

that silence like a KNIFE!
