Silent Entertainer

Speaking at a Library Event

I am a writer and I have been for about seven years now. I like to write short stories, some of which have appeared in a magazine. I also write here on HubPages and I have had four books published.

Most people think of entertainers as someone who sings at a concert, someone who is an actor or actress in a television show or a movie, one who acts in a play. There is not doubt that those people are entertainers.

When I have someone tell me that when reading one of my books they couldn't put it down they had to keep reading to see what would happen next, it makes me feel like an entertainer. To me that is the best compliment that a writer can receive. I consider myself an entertainer and I know there are other writers that feel the same way. I think I am a silent entertainer. I think I am an entertainer because when someone reads what I write it wants them to read more or leave a comment. When I read a book written by someone else I may be on the sofa on in my recliner, I feel that I am being entertained.

My question is to other writers. Do you feel that yourself or other writers are entertainers? An entertainer is someone that brings happiness and joy to someone else. Do you feel that way when you have written something? Give me your thoughts, I am interested. I consider myself an entertainer, a silent entertainer, but an entertainer.

Thank you Larry. I remember back to a crazy time. And I would intentionally put in soft jokes. Maybe crying and laughing together are important.

Eric, when I read what you have written I feel entertained, so I look at you as an entertainer.

A wonderfully put concept and question. I just have never ever thought of myself as an entertainer. There go a fool such as I. Perhaps I need to put this in my quiver and enhance my delivery of thought.

I am contemplating if I thought myself above entertaining.
