Sitting On The Shores Of Life.

Updated on September 11, 2013
Source

Welcome to one and all !!

As many of you know a couple if weeks ago a very dear friend who had actually been my English teacher at school advised me that as well as writing these positive and happy poems I should also write some every now and then on the pain and sadness of life.

This I did a couple of weeks ago and I was amazed at the wonderful comments. One of the best was from a dear friend I have made through HubPages who actually told me that because I had only spoken of positives she now found that she could not connect with me fully. She had felt lacking as she felt pain and I didn't seem to feeling any.

Also I think that unknowingly I had set myself on a pedestal where I was the happy one permanently; what ever sadness and bleakness I felt I worked out at home without sharing with you all on here.

So you can now understand just how much DJs http://djanderson.hubpages.com/ comment meant to me.

I hope you enjoy today's hub.

A ferocious

wave crashes

onto

the shores of life ;

my heart recoils

in clear determination

horizons charred

from unrelenting

punishment.

The lashings

cause wheals silent

and deadly !!!

My heart a pendulum

ebbing and flowing

happy and sad

Misty horizons

how I long for sunshine

for one moment in time.

The spraying stinging salt water

spiteful

hurtful

on each open wound .

My heart a slave

and never a shelter;

gripped in life's

wrath!!

Estuaries of life !!Which one is ours to decide.

Source

Let us retrace

back to the days

of choices .

When the sea was younger !!!

With many estuaries

promising new beginnings !!!

Do I believe ?

Do I trust ?

Do I fight against

life's

intravenous poison ?

Or do I hide away?

That early river once again beckons.

Which estuary for me ??

"Wearily she'll flow along

Into estuaries she'll divide

These are the rivers of life

Which one is ours to decide."

A choice so clear

but is my mind strong?

Will I eternally cower

from

raw emotions?

A continuous journey

of ebbing and flowing

each tide so cruel so grim ?

A path once so blurred

on life's horizon

lifting that grey mist

once merciless in its threats !!

Lifting a heart

cowering in life's

bleak caves ??

Thrown about

will I find shelter from life's wrath

from threats

from salt laced terrors.

A decision I alone can make.

Then daylight breaks

and slithers of sunshine

awakens a heart once numb.

Blue skies gently caress

each soft white cotton wool cloud.

Eyes open in sheer delight

as the sea rests

a blue calm oasis of wonder !!!

Rock pools

wondrously glisten

enticing

each magical wonder to enchant.

Each heart so afraid

absorbs this awakening

heartbeats a clear

sonnet of

True love.

Seagulls cry

fill hearts with wonder

the gentleness

floats on the ebb and flow.

Young children explore

those twinkling rock pools of life.

Days so precious

Moments to treasure

Skipping and jumping

their world so bright

from cold to warm

dull to bright

sad to happy !!!

Cherish.

Source

Cherish

Your world's beauty

Each contrast a lesson

Happiness a sweet treasure trove

To accept, expect and appreciate

A world so desperate for love

Fight for your path through life

A path so true

Cherish

Oh thank you DJ ;and how treasured it is to from great friendships through our writing. Not one of my friends who I see now and again would be able to tell me what you did .

I have to tell you a little story here .

When I was married to my ex I lived a life of being a wife and mother and nothing else. I had to be a GOOD mother ;besides this my ex would not allow me to gout with friends or anything. As you know I left him in 2002 and started going out now and again with friends. My daughter Erin who was then about 11yrs said to me one day "I am glad you go out now; I thought you were a bit strange before because all my friends mothers went out and had fun."

I had thought that I was going to be presented with a trophy for being a great Mum when all the time my daughter thought I was strange. This makes me chuckle today , many years later.

Thank you again DJ and have a great day,.

      Eddy.

This is such a beautiful poem with the ending that was happy. I loved the part where daylight breaks and eyes open in sheer delight. All the verses are unique and so beautiful. God bless you Eddy. You bring such joy into our lives.

How odd! I have been on and off my computer several times today.

Your hub, just popped up. The first thing I thought was that it is in the

middle of the night in Wales. What on earth is Eddy doing up publishing, at this time of night?! It is 8:00 PM, Eastern time, it would be after midnight in Wales!

I thought, "Oh good! I'll be the first to make a comment. I'll beat out all those West coast folks, for sure."

Eddy, I was blown away that you make reference to me and to our talk.

But, you are correct. I could not find a bond with someone who's life

was so perfect. I do write about many sad things. It just happens to be

what moves my heart, or that which the creative side leans toward.

This hub is exquisite. You speak of the pain that many of us feel at some point in our lives. 'The raw emotions...thrown about...on salt laced seas.'

We are not asking for pity or feelings of sorrow, we are asking for validation.

Husbands, when us wives complain about a hard day at work we are not suggesting that you take matters into your own hands and go beat up our boss. We only need a kind word of validation.

Eddy, you did a perfectly wonderful job to bring the story around to making the decision to 'chose the beautiful world'. You gave key word like sunny shores, sparkling pool of water and cherishing the love in your life. It is truly a marvelous hub with profound poems and amazing pictures.

That is what I call, a great hub, my friend.

A little affirmation gives a lot of validation. :-)

The wonder and hope beyond the horizons of pain shine through this poem, Eddy.

Your writing here embraces both the shadows and the light of life. When misfortune hits, we must look that much more closely at what we cherish....and so wonderfully has such embracing of life been expressed here.

We each have our own way to deal with pain and it's OK. What is important, is to write as you feel because than you will be true with yourself. If you prefer to write about positive things it's good for people who need to read positive thoughts. Negative thoughts pull me down so I try to stay positive as much as possible!

May be for you, writing mainly positive things is like a balm to soothe the pain of your childhood.

Thanks for sharing, Eddy! It's always a pleasure to read you!

I have found that listening to DJ is great advice. :) She was right on. I found myself about six months ago settling in a niche where I tried to rally the troops and change the world...talk about what was wrong....never about what was right.....I am a better writer than that, and so are you.

      love,

      billy
