Sleepwalking Past hope

Updated on February 19, 2011

Sleep walking Past hope!

Hope tastes like an unrealistic flawless dish served on misery for a platter

You’re born in poverty fed by those who nurture you all the crooked lies for a starter

You have been told that you can be any person you want

But your genuine efforts will remain for centuries to haunt

You’re told at a young age that you are change the youth of our nation

Hope for those who have none, yet loneliness and failure are of your creation

Drugs alcohol cocaine girls and ultimate hoes (whores)

And your insane actions hope froze

Alcohol, weed and blue Viagra for breakfast

Because you want to enjoy life that expires fast

Oops! IT is not part of your plan but you have been knocked out!

And from your flawless crystal world you have been signed out

Now you finally admit that you are a failure for a parent

And brought an infected seed! Hope pfft that is apparent

Sleepwalking past hope

Please hand me a rope

And now your glorious youth is over, you are past forty

You seem to be in some sort of petrifying frenzy

You have been all your life in an aimless journey sleepwalking past hope

But all your pitiful attempts for a better world added a knot to your rope

At 50, your bloodcurdling deeds chase all the sanity to claim its throne

To make you tremble, and wish you were able to pluck the eternal thorn

You have wasted your life so easily

And sins claimed this face cleanly

Wake up! Crying on spilt milk won’t help nor cure!!

Just like sleepwalking past hope for sure

Have you been living your life searching for a glimpse of light

Well you have to stand up make a difference and fight

For what is right!

Like a phoenix burning in its ashes you have to rise

Washing away all the intricate yet useless lies

Before you choke with your hand-made ties

This might resemble a song title by him but it has nothing to do with it (you can listen to their song sleepwalking past hope at last.fm)

What a wonderful poem with so much to say! Why not take pieces of this and turn them into essays as well? This is one of those poems that a writer can do so much with - like create a series that build to a conclusion, create a teaching on a subject (like being present in the moment so you don't miss a golden opportunity walking toward you), and more. Well done!
