Slip Sliding Sand

Updated on January 22, 2017

Written for Poetry Month 2012

A fun-filled day at the beach. Drawing patterns on the wet sand knowing fully well that the waves will wash away the drawings without a trace.

Never giving up I draw again and again - patterns slip sliding away in front of my eyes, gone with the sand.

Slip sliding away,

Never can hold, fast flowing down,

Slipping through my hands,

In-between nooks and crannies of my fingers,

The more I try to hold, the more it escapes,

In a blink of an eye, it just slips by.

Washed away patterns on the wet sand,

Waves cleaning, erasing clear,

Anew, a new canvas on the sand,

Erased by waves crashing on land,

Again and again,

Patterns new, carved upon the sand bed,

Etched and engraved new designs,

Every detail, crystal clear.

Never giving up,

Again and again,

New patterns and designs,

On the wet sand,

I carve,

Never giving up,

Fighting against,

The never ending slip sliding waves,

Slip sliding away,

Slip sliding away.

Artist Escape

Slipping sliding sand

Flowing with the waves

Settling on new grounds

Every time forming a new canvas

With the ebb and flow of waves

Ready to be carved molded

Into any shape

An artist creative escape

Beach Sands Haiku

slipping sliding sand

gently plays tickling my feet

an amazing feel

sand slip sliding fast

runs escaping my fingers

repelling my hold

I can picture this in my mind as I read because when I go to the beach I like to notice how the footprints are quickly washed away behind as you walk. Lovely thoughts, true all easily slip slides away if you are not careful to store them. Beautiful!

I love this poem. A little like life, waves come to wash our dreams away but we get up and start again.

      Love it and voting up
