Slow Down And Enhoy Life More

Updated on June 14, 2015

What's The Rush

By going faster does it make life better ?

I think it does the opposite

It makes life worse

It's a curse

I have to do this or that

For what reason ?

Because in my mind I believe I have to

I convinced myself I must

If it's working two jobs

Which I have done for years

Constantly trying to live up to unrealistic expectations

Making more money

Reading and learning more

Finding someone to love

Helping out others because they are in need

Trying to save the world

Somewhere in my life my thoughts grew

Ideas that I nurtured have now developed

In the title you see I have spelled enjoy as enhoy

Because I didn't have joy in what I did

I replaced the Joy and Happiness with a heartache

Rushing around trying to get things done

Missing out on life

Thinking deep down in my mind

I have no choice

Not one of my friends or family stopped me

They too were busy with their own rat race

With their clouded vision

Not seeing where they are going

Doing more for their children

Having no time for themselves

Drinking with friends on weekends

Buying the newest phone

Spending their hard earned dollars on lottery tickets and casino gambling

It can be any number of things or a combination of all

Spending most of your time watching t.v.

Buying a new car when the old one worked just fine

Spending money you don't have on a vacation getaway

Doing anything in excess to extreme

Their are those people who are money saving penny pinching

To amass huge wealth

More money that they can count or spend

There has to be a middle ground

Where inner peace is found

I can not find it for you

I can guide you in the right direction

Instead of looking for the latest and greatest

Why not take a minute and have a one on one

Self talk

Am I happy where I am right now ?

Am I living an illusion ?

Chasing that rainbow in the sky

Dream On, I just noticed your title when I got an email notification of comments on this hub. You need to change the spelling of "Enjoy". Cheers.

Jodah My comment never took from four weeks ago. I am so happy that you are living without stress and unnecessary pressure. We should all find ways to have fun without waiting for our two days off or vacation. Thank you for your comment and sharing your ideas.annart We have to set a good example for our children. Many times they practice what they have learned. There is enough things in life that give us a challenge. Finding what makes us happy and not letting little problems become big problems. Thank you for reading and caring.

It's just not worth the dashing about and the angst of trying to keep up with everyone else's idea of what one should do. We should indeed slow down and enjoy what we have, what we see around us and what life shows us on the way; if not, we miss out on many of the richness and wonder of life itself.

It's too easy to get caught up in the 'rat race' but it's so good when you stop, think and follow another path.

You are right Dream On, we all need to take stock of our life and decide what things are most important. I have a pretty relaxed lifestyle and I agree that it is much better than rushing around and stressing about everything. Lack of money or unexpected bills/expenses can sometimes stress me out but even that is not the end of the word and somehow we always managed to get by. Voted up.
