Snowfall... © Rolly A. Chabot

Updated on December 24, 2013

We need to pretend we have a fireplace this morning, so close your eyes and imagine the flames licking upward and crackling, the faint smell of woodsmoke in the air and the way the heat has its way if penetrating to all those cold areas. Hopefully you can imagine the Fireside far off from where I find myself today.

Northern Saskatchewan is where we are today, a settlement that like most of Canada is under the white blanket of snow. The temperature is hovering close to the 0 degrees point, and that is a good thing compared to the minus 35 they had all last week...

Gather around and I would like to speak something into your hearts this morning,

May this little candle, symbolize the love and appreciation for all whom I have encountered in real life and yes here on Hub Pages, the writing world and Social Media. We have become a large family in so many ways.

Stop and think of the expanse of the world, the number of people and you soon realize it is huge. Yet at the click of a button we can reach everyone. It is just that simple. One minute into the far reaches of one nation then off to another. It is really amazing when you think of it. Our world all of a sudden seems much smaller as we stare at the screen.

I suppose the question we all need to ask ourselves is what is the message we are sending out. How do we find a balance in today's multicultural world and yet stay neutral enough to not offend anyone? What belief system do we violate wit say a few words like Merry Christmas? We have entered into a world where to be politically correct we have to measure our words carefully.

Would we be correct in saying one word covers all emotions, search as you may and you will find none more powerful than one single word, the word is love?

As I have passed through 60 decades or better in life I have spoken words of judgement onto others. We all have and yet one simple word if excepted can and will heal everything. It covers all political, all judgement and all the wounds of the past.

Love comes in many forms, the one I offer to all today who read these words is simple. It has the meaning of purity. No matter where you are today may the warmth and meaning of this word cover you, warm you as the fireplace in your mind can muster up.

If anything, please take my word I have today and hold it dear to your heart...

Hi All... thank you for the beautiful comments, sorry for the delay in responding to each of you personally. The one thing I have learned in life is the fact is we can control the way we respond to others. When done in love all else fails.

      Hugs and Blessings to all

Very lovely reflection, Rolly. I'm glad I paused to read it. Yes, I have been thinking of the times in which my words to another have been less than loving (mostly in college years), and want with all my hart to make up for it with words of love...and the best I can do is move forward...with love.

Hope you and your loved ones enjoy a lovely Christmas season and a Happy and Prosperous new year!

We are the only state in the northern tier without snow on the ground; I'm trying not to be bitter. :) Beautiful message about love, Rolly. You are the personification of love and I'm proud to call you friend. Merry Christmas buddy.
