So be it...

By Tony DeLorger © 2013

So be it,

let sleeping spectres lie,

ignore the impasse,

that niggling of regrets,

reminded by haunting,

and forget those imperfections,

those decisions that mock,

the very substance of a soul,

who we are in our sight,

our perspective.

So be it,

forgive those faults,

that stained another,

gave hurt passage,

and in deed shook a life,

to the knees of acceptance,

by the force of will,

narrow and single-minded,

in the cause of self,

a desperate last resort.

So be it,

filled with the lust of will,

I have betrayed me,

given less than I should,

more than I needed,

in a vast spectrum of gain,

survival,

and a hope of salvation bestowed,

not earned but granted,

from an ill-directed prayer.

So be it,

I shall forgive my weakness,

accept my imperfections,

and move to eke out a life,

free from introspection,

free from judgement,

free from my penchant,

for truth,

even when it destroys,

contaminates hearts.

So be it,

I am human.

Introspection can be a painful experience, when we discover who we really are. But truth can set you free if you are prepared to forgive yourself and move on.

Lovely piece on forgiveness and the images are perfect for it! I was trying to click through to the photographers on Flickr but it just takes me to a slideshow here on HP - a glitch maybe? Otherwise, a stunning poem!

Agreed Wayne, forgiveness is one of the most important things to learn in life. Without it we carry around all our luggage, where ever we go, whatever we do, and in that can never truly experience life cleanly, without negative influence.

Nice piece Tony. Forgiveness of self and to others is a huge step to recovery.

Ah you're funny, you make me laugh! I'm sure Vincent wouldn't be happy working for Mad Magazine lol, lol. Your legacy is far more than your beautiful furry friends...you are a poet and your words will live on. Enjoy the rest of your listening evening. Take care 4.07pm Adelaide time.

...yes Sir Tony, lol, and even Leonard Cohen would be human if he read this and shit his pants, lol, 'cos it doesen't get any fookin' better than this - you even make Vincent Moore look like he writes for Mad Magazine , lol lol lol lol loll ololloooooooooooooolololol lolllolloll lol.

Oh dear GOD is this poetry or what, lol, it makes me look like a slow child with the wrong kind of crayons.

I read each line here and each line only gets better.

You are the best poet/writer on the Hub but deserve a better gig than this.

My only legacy in my dismal life is looking after my cats.

Sincere good luck with your move my friend and sending high fives to you two from two human hands and four furried paws.

2:02am still getting through my album collection one disc at a time - currently listening to the fabulous McGarrigle Sisters from Quebec.
