Solitary writers .......Verse

Updated on November 24, 2014

I admit it there is no connection to this solitary soul
like the simple safe world of words
so go ahead and abuse them
if you must
Yet for just a moment wouldn't you like to gain
one unending friendship
or one lover perhaps
as you read with me
of one chapter

Of what awesome emotions are the life
experiences but
for you my lady
those originated in words
as you sit there curled in fetal and
beautiful form
against the arm of the sofa
as you read of your knights
in shining armor
in distant lands
do I carry you safely away

Or for this man perhaps the travels in a distant
valley surrounded by danger
my sword in hand my honored steed
and steady beneath me as the beauty
of a colored fresh mountain valley promises
my day an all new adventure

Or that one not me but a true scholar in
the dusty shelves of her environ
pullng the comfort volumes around her
until those perfect blue eye's close
in gentled fatigue
and she sleeps
right there
her head on the table

But what of this solitary writer half
ashamed of the secret profession
he can move a distant soul
to tears yet cannot feel his
own heart beat
cannot reckon his own calling
nor his own needs
lost in a flame blackened silence

Can you hear my heart cry out
can you fill my pitiful eternal needs
do I move you or you me
as we pass in this literary darkness
of lost souls
long sitting on silent dust covered
and remote shelves
is that finger prints in the dust there ?

Or is that picture before us a teacher
her words afire her eye's lit in a tender dance
as she reads to an enthralled circle of
small children as they sit open
mouthed and quietly
on the warm carpeted floor
and dream of a life
all their own ?

Can you hear my words ? Can you ?

I do hear your words. They are words so many writers express. You expressed them beautifully in this hub. Thank you for sharing these deep emotions.

I hear you, Ed. I hear and know those words, their meaning and their importance. It makes me ponder on how important it is to reach out to others or to go within and comfort our Self.

Too often, too many people go through life not listening to the needs of others or even aware of their own needs that must be taken care of.

Yes, I hear you, my friend. Next time you come out west, give me a holler and we can meet for coffee, share our words and maybe write a story together.

Take care and blessings to you.

A wonderful read to begin my lone writing day. Perhaps it will carry me through when it gets bleak. Thank you. Oh yes I loved the ending.
