Some Memories are Best Forgotten (but it´s hard)

Updated on October 1, 2013

Memories---- those best forgotten.

Sticking in my throat,

My heart, my soul.

Sublime------ Ridiculous..

And all that lies between.

Beautiful house..... A facade,

Events inside...... macabre.,

Icy, bony fingers,

Digging deep into my back,

Screams of wild obscenities.

Fear......

Trembling.....

Too frightened to hate....

Nightmares..

Remembering....

Want to forget...

She canĀ“t hurt me now.!

Or can she?.........

Fear forever.....

Ensconced within me.

No escape,

In my mind.

Trapped....!

Lost in a tangled mess of forest.
Lost in a tangled mess of forest.

Hi Beth37, Thank you for the kind thought.

I have a wonderful husband who helps me through any bad days. The bad days have become less as the years have gone by, but l never truly forget.

I have found that there is something so much bigger than those memories, my faith. It is easier said than done but when we dig down deep and embrace that faith the memories take a back seat to the peace we can find. Beautiful poem Dear Lady, and it does bring back memories of those times I have been there. Happy New Year!!! God bless!! Hugs to you!!

Dear Vincent. You leave such kind comments for me.Thank you so much.

I had a flashback this week of only a split second, but oh the memories it conjured up !!! I found it hard to believe that things from so long ago, seemingly forgotten , just appeared out of the blue in my mind. Writing always helps.

Reading your work always helps too. I get lost in your verse sometimes. In a most beautful way.

    Take care. Enjoy your Xmas.

Some memories we like to erase from our life, but they are trapped in our minds forever, creeping up to the surface when you least expect it.

Chilling, gripping, haunting. Great poem. Thanks!

Wll penned my poet. You are well aware of the boney icy fingers I've felt of abuse in my youth, they linger and often my Muse insists I compose my thoughts and set my soul free to release the wickedness of it upon the world, with hope and prayers that some will be reached and spared the hell of abuse that too many of us have endured in our pasts.

I pray this work has been set free from your soul to fly far far away and never return. Merry Christmas my sweet kind friend, I send you my blessings and prayers from across the pond. Voted up and shared.

I had to think about this one a bit....are there memories I would rather forget? No, there aren't, but then I've never had to endure abuse, and to me that might be a memory whose nightmare qualities might be best erased. :) Whatever the case, beautiful poem Dim!
