Something Is Blurry - A Poem

Updated on June 6, 2012

A sudden beam of light in the darkness....

Light switches turn on....and off.
Light switches turn on....and off. | Source

Lost in each other....lost.

I’m not sure why it happened.

I can’t see you so clearly.

Before you life had no fizz,

And life had been so dreary.

It started out of the blue,

Sped on like an avalanche,

I just thought “Can this be true?”

And wanted to take the chance.

I saw so much to admire,

A dream someone made come true,

You had set my heart on fire,

Days short for enough of you.

We laughed, loved, and loved again.

The rush enlarged that first spark.

We knew not how, where, or when.

A light focused broke the dark.

The world grew smaller then.

All else was left to see.

No time to raise my pen;

The days just you and me.

Reality stepped in.

It couldn’t ever be.

Now with eyes so blurry.

The end we didn’t see.

Like bubbles from the fizz,

The focused light went out.

Life’s back to what it is.

Dark, drear, all light’s turned out.

raciniwa: It is fair to say it went wandering around looking for permanence.

always exploring: It can last for eternity, but only if it is right (the sow's ear and the silk purse.) Find the right relationship and then invest everything in it.

TENKAY: Romance is defined (in one of its definitions) as something "fanciful" and "imaginary". But a romance with mutual love is so much more than imagined; thus its end will always be some devastating abrupt point at which the love is denied to one or both. There is so much learning that takes place with so much reflection and soul pain.

hi friend: How "great" I leave to you, but it is nice that the mind can find words to express itself in any form that reaches another for understanding. Thanks.

Gypsy Rose Lee: There is a period in which the loss is gut wrenching. That lasts with some lingering faint hopes that it will work out right, until the mind assures that it will.

oh boy... I could relate to this poem... the romance ended yes, but what a ride, it was worth it.

Voted up and awesome. It really is a hard foot on the break to go from a wonderful romance to total melt down. Like taking a cold glass of champagne only to discover that it's gone flat.

Angela Brummer: Thanks for the Interesting. This is an attempt at defining the exhileration and the loss of the "too hot not to cool down" romance.
