Something from Nothing

"Better to be a coward than a gangstar"

Gang war

It is not about me, they made me a scape goat to cover their own follies but i have to tell the world the truth. I really need to talk to ease my pains and bear my loss. “To kill a dog, you must tag it a bad name else its killing will not be justified”.

What do you think it will profit me to conspire to murder the star of my life? A young man who has done more than i can count for me.

This is the fact.(Oct 10th 2003)
The two families hated each other and have been in a big brawl for ages, it was rumored that Frank’s Dad had a hand in Ugo’s Dad’s death because of the circumstances surrounding his death, the land dispute, the verbal fight in the meeting and the refusal to take the oat all culminated the brawl.

My relationship with Ugo dates back to the coal city, it was Kaila’s birthday party, the guys were all searching for single girls to dance with and i must confess that it clicked the very moment we spotted each other, his dancing moves were extra ordinary and after the party, the expected happened. He told me that he would want to see more of me and that was just how it all began and ever since then, we have always been together.

Though his mother objected to our relationship because i was a Jehovah witness but he denounced Catholic and became a Jehovah witness, he was baptized and our bond kept growing. Things were going on very well between us until this incident. I could not believe that they were cousins, Ugo never told me that he had a cousin in the same campus with us.

I should have known all these while anyway because Frank Ozo was a popular name in my department and he looked so much alike with Ugo. I could remember a day he told me that some girls ran up to him and asked him to tell me to meet them by the bakery. Of course, they mistook him for Frank. I later got to know Frank but Ugo was not happy about my gestures towards him and the last name he wanted to ever hear was Frank Ozo.

“You are cousins for Christ sake” i told him.

I took it up as a challenge to unite these two young men, they are the same blood and there is no way the sins of the fathers will be passed unto the sons, this was my sole believe.

Ugo got extremely jealous of my association with Frank but Frank was more understanding and was willing to mend things with his cousin whom he admires so much. I was matched to do the research with Frank, it was our final project but Ugo objected to it.

“There is no way they will match you with that son of a devil” he said

I tried to make him understand that it was just a school project but honestly, the hatred in their families has strong roots in most of the family members. Ugo refused bluntly about me and Frank doing the research together.

“He can’t take you away from me” He said

So he left that morning with two of his friends. I thought they had gone for lectures.

Sitting there waiting for Frank became unbearable so i decided to give him a call but his cell was off, how can he switch off his cell i wondered, we were supposed to be at the museum by 11am and it is already quarter past one. I remember seeing people running halter skater but they were a bit far from me. I didn’t know what was going on until the police picked me up.

“Na she be dis” one of them said

This was how i got into this brawl but officer, i never knew that either of them was involved in cultism, how can i set Ugo up or conspire to kill Frank? How do you think that i will kill the father of my unborn child, we have plans to migrate to South Africa immediately after our graduations so please, you have a case to follow but do not try in any way to make out something from nothing because i am innocent.

July 14th 2003.
Ugo left with Tim and Basket to attack Frank and it was him (Ugo) who stabbed Frank to death but unfortunately, the Vkk members (Frank was their member) were around so they overpowered Ugo and his accomplices then killed them instantly.

This generated a big war in the campus between the VKK and the Fliers(Ugo was their member), so many students, young men who would have been governors, doctors, engineers, lawyers, senators and positive elements to the society lost their lives in the war.

“Say no to cultism, say no to gangsterism and understand why you are there in the campus and show love in the neighborhood”

"You don't have to fight to be a man"

"Thou shall not kill"

"You bear the cross but others suffers the loss"
