Song Lyrics - Being Free Means Lonely

Updated on September 14, 2011

It was my idea
To be all alone
I wanted to be free
But it looks like I was wrong

Why does being free
Really mean lonely?
I thought I’d feel much better
But it looks like I was wrong

Now that she’s gone
My life is my own
I wanted to be free
But it looks like I was wrong

Why does being free
Really mean lonely?
I thought I’d feel much better
But it looks like I was wrong

She knew how to love
And she loved me
But I wanted more
It was all about me

I got what I wanted
I pushed her away
Now I look around
And it looks like I was wrong

Why does being free
Really mean lonely?
I thought I’d feel much better
But it looks like I was wrong

Being free means lonely
Being free means lonely
Being free means lonely

very beautiful, sad and true. I always say there is three cateagories we fall into in relationships 1)Free but lonely for love. 2) Taken but lonely for love and 3) In love and happy. I think everyone wants to be #3 but its one of the first 2 choices they end up with. :-( ----This was beautiful.

Well, yes, being free means spending more time alone, but luckily I don't feel lonely. I am sorry that your lyrics say that you do.

I got so tired of feeling alone in the relationship I left, I am glad that I left. Living alone, with my Scottish Terrier, means I no longer must act, dress, and be the way someone else deems acceptable. I got tired of having to justify everything about me.

I hope that you meet someone who is the perfect match for you, Suburban Poet. The dynamics of relationships are sometimes different for men and women. It is my understanding that the medical community sees far more physical illness in men who live alone.

Your lyrics are beautiful and I appreciate you're sharing your vantage point so artistically. Thank you.

      @asmaiftikhar - Thank you!

@Lady_Tenaz - Thank you. Yes those are the main categories. I think a person can be alone and happy like Amy mentioned but I think we are all human and want someone at times.

      @Danielly Lopez - Thank you!

@Amy - I'm not always looking. I hope it's out there but I am such a loner that it's hard to have someone as a life partner. I hope I can figure it out. Thanks for commenting.
