Song Lyrics - I Don't Know Your World

Updated on November 1, 2011

I no longer live in your world
The one that’s so blinding
So blinding

I no longer hear your words
The ones that are so confining
So confining

I don’t know who taught you
I don’t know who bought you
I don’t know
I don’t know

I’m not a little boy
But I live in a world
That’s all of my own
I live in a world
That’s all of my own

If you will listen
I will open your eyes
To see all the lies

If you will listen
I will open your mind
To see what you can find

I don’t know why you are afraid
I don’t know why you think you are saved
I don’t know
I don’t know

I’m not a little boy
But I live in a world
That’s all of my own
I live in a world
That’s all of my own

You said
Getting up early
Is getting up at all
For people who are poor
For people who are poor

You said
It’s not your problem
They made their choice
They locked their own door
They locked their own door

I don't know your world
I just know it's dying
It's dying

I’m not a little boy
But I live in a world
That’s all of my own
I live in a world
That’s all of my own

I've suddenly got scared to comment, you know, on the judge's page, but enjoying your song and thinking it deserves a comment. Thanks Suburban Poet, keep them coming!

Uh-oh... "The judge..." Hmmmmmmmm..... Just fighting the power man.... hopefully it's not too santimonious... It's hard for me to do happy talk.... it's boring for me to wriste about. But I'll tell you what drove this. Actually it's a long story but at times I post things of an altruistic nature on Yahoo comments or even on ESPN.com and I've been called a communist and worse. I find it interesting how many people admire what I call greed. There is an entire culture of prioritizing money and the culture is Wall Street. Enron. The Military Industrial Complex. Goldman Sachs. So... that is my target. It's faceless to an extent (see Saddle Rider's poem). Most people are trying to just get by and be honest and I understand that way of life. But the big monied interests in the world will kill or pollute or lie or cheat or do whatever they need to get rich. I guess I'm pretty much saying I'm offended by it all..... PS... the picture of the exotic girl with the Sitar is just my idea of how the song would sound and also an image of a different world.

Yes, so sad when we get "branded" for hoping for a better world.

Well I do throw darts in my own direction at times:

This is so embarrasing, I was referring to being a judge in the upcoming November Arts Contest, but it wasn't you, really sorry Suburban Poet for any confusion! But I did and do really like your poetry.

Ha... Ok... no biggie but maybe you inadvertently got me to thinking about my style or whatever. But I have to say what I have to say! Do you have a "judges page" as you said? Where is it on hubpages?

There's a blue "contest" button just above the search box on the home page where you sign in, gives all the details there.

Oh, I live in my little world, my own little world. A World that is always sunny, a world that is not confining. Another wonderful poem.

You are very talented. Always, always enjoy your work.

      Thank you so much!

@gmaGoldie - We all do to a certain extent but as I grow older I find myself shedding so many things that were formerly important to me and it is very liberating. Thank you for the kind words....
