Song Lyrics - I Was The Rain

Updated on December 17, 2011

Your eyes were never dry baby
And mine felt the pain
Yeah they were burning baby
Because I only brought the rain

The sun looked away baby
As our tears covered the ocean
It wanted to rise with us baby
But we all drowned in emotion

You were always sad baby
And I felt the same
We didn’t understand love baby
We thought it was a game

Your eyes were never dry
No they never were
It killed me baby
To watch you sit and cry

Your heart stayed broken baby
And I knew why
I didn’t know how to love you
Even though I tried

Your eyes were never dry
No they never were
It killed me on the inside baby
To watch you sit and cry

Yes, you were the sunshine
And I was the rain
You were so young
And trapped inside the pain

@Verita - I always smile now when you appear on my hubs... thank you. You're right.. sometimes it just doesn't work and it's tough when both of you had the high hopes and wanted it so badly... I wrote another one just now about being who you are and that is what is important for love... at least it stands a better chance of succeeding. I know I've been unable to reach someone who loved me (which is kind of weird if you think about it) and in the end they rejected me but later came back and said maybe they made a mistake. It's about timing sometimes or maybe just not expecting the impossible.

@HEAVENGLORIES - Hello. Thank you for commenting. I appreciate constructive criticism. I'm not sure what to say except when I begin writing I have a sketch and what works works so to speak. I don't start out wanting to be obvious or vague. The pen does the driving so to speak. Certainly when you consider rhyme and rhythm the difficulties arise. With this one I know what I am saying and I hope you can impute whatever you wish to believe about it and make it your own. But the girl crying in the window with the rain falling all around her is the metaphor for a love that failed....

Well done. Beautiful poem. But it seems that it would be more better if the theme of the poem would be more clear. I think that due to hard work in respect of making this poem rhythmic, full picture is not projected. But congratulations for making the poem rhythmic in an extraordinary way. Wishing the new year more prosperous and healthy for you.

Loved those stanza :D Well, it's true, Mark. Sometimes, we've tried our very best to embrace their fragile hearts with undying love and shower them with sweet scented rose petals but it simply don't work out. It hurts so badly to see them cry but we can't lie to them or to our own heart. I've been there, Mark. Worse, if he/she still waiting for an answer. I do feel bad till now, I admit.

Anyway, beautiful piece of work! Up and away :D

      Best Wishes, V
