Song Lyrics - Just Sittin' There

Updated on June 22, 2011
Source

This one is about a bottle of whiskey. The title was suggested to me by my old high school friend Johnny Frost:

You're always waitin' for me to come home
You’re the first thing I see
I don’t want to start again
But I know that’s how it’s gonna be

You’re like a pretty girl
Singing her siren song
I know I should walk away
But tonight ain’t about right and wrong

You might as well come on over
So we can start again
You’re just sittin’ there
Actin’ like my only friend
No matter what I say
No matter what I do
You’re just sittin’ there
Ready to make me your fool

What are you lookin’ at?
You just sit and stare
You know you’re bad for me
But I know you don’t care

I work so hard to do what’s right
But that mountain keeps gettin’ higher
I say I can handle it all
But I know that I’m a liar

You might as well come on over
So we can start again
You’re just sittin’ there
Actin’ like you’re my only friend
No matter what I say
No matter what I do
You’re just sittin’ there
Ready to make me your fool

Yeah you’re just siitin’ there
Like a pretty girl waitin’ for me
But when the sun comes up
You and my heart will just be empties

@Susan - Thanks and I'd like to hear it too... I can't sing worth a lick so that's a bit of a non-starter there but maybe, someday a real singer will take a crack at it. But like I said at the introduction this piece was written at the request of a friend who came up with the song title and asked me to come up with something....

@JJ - Thanks and I read your piece. I like that Black Label Scotch... mmmmmmm......

@Micky - There you go man! I'll let Johnny know his name was mentioned in a poem! You ought to keep that thing going and start your own hub....

      Whiskey River take my mind.

      Maybe spank my behind.

      Obscure the world,

      As my thoughts swirl.

Take the wrinkles from my brow,

Join the future to the past right now.

Paint a new horizon of a different hue.

Just a few different colors may do.

Smooth my head - my hair.

      As you just sit there.

      Let's get lost,

on Whiskey River with Johnny Frost.

I love it! You and I think alike. Reminds me of my Johnnie Walker poem a lil bit! But yours is way better! ;-)
