Song Lyrics - Something I Can Believe In

Updated on October 10, 2011

This is my 300th hub and while it may not be my best, it is my heart. I think and write all the time but the answers are already there.....

I spend a lot time thinking
About what I can believe in
It seems life is just a big circle
I end up back where I’ve already been

Looking into the eyes of a lover
I wonder if it will work out
But it always seems the same
So I move on still carrying the doubt

Why do I always forget
There is something I can believe in?
I search the clouds
And always find my children
I know they love me
And need my guiding hand
Why do I always forget
There is something I can believe in?

I read the words of an old book
And search for meaning in its pages
Trying to reach higher ground
I listen to wise men and sages

But like I always
There are no answers
Except in the eyes of my children
They want to believe
In their Father’s love
And I know the answer is them

There is a faith
In things unseen
There is a need
For a spiritual being
But there is truth
That you can see
It’s the love of a child
On this we can agree

Why do I always forget
There is something I can believe in?
I search the clouds
And always find my children
I know they love me
And need my guiding hand
Why do I always forget
There is something I can believe in?

Beautiful. Your children have been no. 1 in your writing quite often, and I'm always glad to see it. Think it's only human to feel we're missing something when they aren't in our home. Hang in there, SP.

@Stigma - Hey man it's not a race or a contest. Just write when you feel it... I hope you can have children some day. It was hard on my relationship with their mother but the children are incredible. There is no doubt about that.

@LABrashear - Thank you! I'm actually kind of shocked that I've written so many hubs. It has been a wonderful experience to say the least. I agree that the sound of children laughing is something that can brighten the day. I have an acquantance who had to move to another city and was worried about the effect on her children (she is a single mom). Anyway they moved into an apartment and she posted on Facebook that the kids were playing in the pool and she could hear them laughing and how much a relief it was to her. I could relate to that.

@Jean - Thank you! I love The Moody Blues, especially the album "Days of Future Passed." I listened to that one obsessively back in the mid-70's....

@Just Ask Susan - It's something that I know but it really has hit home recently. At this time in my life my children's love for me is so obvious and that is not bragging; it's just a matter that we are very much in sync and it feels great. Thank you for commenting.

Congrats on 300! This is beautiful! I can be in the worst mood and hear my children laugh or get one of their hugs and it makes it all better. Their unblemished faith and pure outlook on the world helps fight some of our skepticism. Great job!

      Hi Suburban Poet,

I haven't been here in a while. Congrats on your 300th hub. You reminded me of the Moody Blues, From Our Children's Children's Children, "In The Eyes of a Child." I'm going to dig that out of the pile that desperately needs to be alphabetized! All the best!

This is beautiful. As parents I think sometimes we do forget that we do have our children to believe in.

Wow 300 hubs in 12 months. Amazing! I noticed that all the related hubs on this page are all yours too :)
