Sounds of The Night

Updated on August 28, 2013
Source

Her soft breaths are warm and tender

As I watch her sleep on a cold December

Her eyes are closed, her lips are pursed

Her gentle face is soft and lovely

The house is calm, the dark night cascades,

The full moonlight peeks through the shades

Tempered my hand, as I stroke her hair

Her delicate face keeps my heart and stare

As she gently stirs in her peaceful slumber

I let her be, I try not to encumber

In her sea of dreams, I cause not a billow

She nuzzles her head deep in the pillow

My mind starts to wander, I begin to doze

A sound in the night and a shock to my nose

The dogs stir and I am aghast

My sleeping wife has just passed gas...

Ha Ha Ha - Great job and great sense of humor. My favorite category of poetry is the kind that takes you by surprise - like your wife's gas.

After seeing the profile picture I was waiting to see the switch, but I expected the wife to be your dog by the imagery.
