A Soul Letter - Part Four

PERSONALLY, I could use a mental, emotional and physical vacation after working for years; love the novel 'The DaVinci Code, btw."

CD entitled "Suave Suave" by the B-tribe;

Andy bought me a newly released CD entitled "Suave Suave" by B-tribe; exactly the kind of music they would play at Lua's on South Beach; 'New Age Flamenco-inspired, Spanish-Enigma' is how best to describe it; http://www.allmusic.com/album/suave-suave-mw0000644865

All albums, lyrics and word phrases can have double-meanings, of course, and this one is no exception; I remember hearing, "I am not whom I say I am and, deny even you;" quite interesting;

B-tribe / Once upon a Time;

Spanish-Enigma is how best to describe them [the B-tribe;]

August 26, 1996

Mon cher -B,

Your latest Love Report was better than the NY Times over brunch on Saturday (it arrived in the morning mail;) wow -- have you been busy keeping bachelor's at bay;

I am so pleased to know of Joe's style in "developing" Phase I with you. He's right, you know. Although I'm sure you already gave this idea some thought: beware, this may be the "danger hook;"

Your dates together sound so dreamy; I never knew Van Dykes had an upstairs lounge; I like Joe already; has mom met Joe yet; have Robert and Alex met Joe yet; you never know :)

The "in" club on EspaƱola Way -- was it Club Lua's; if it is, I went there with Lesley and Manfredo with his European friends last September -- has it been a year already; we had a sinful time; cool-Enigma-sounding music, dark and a bit cave-y with chandeliers, velvet curtains and small dance floors; velvet ropes along its entrance -- was that the place;

Speaking of Lua's, Andy bought me a newly released CD entitled "Suave" by B-tribe; it is exactly the kind of music they would play at Lua's; 'New Age Flamenco-inspired, Spanish-Enigma' is how best to describe it ; anyway, if you're ever looking for a nice CD to give to Joe; he'd probably love it; check out a few track names: Suave/Que mala vida/Sensual/Ahoy/Hablando/Poesia/Yo quiero todo; Andy's really into flamenco now...isn't that cute;

Oh, I also just received The Best of the Gypsy Kings -- It's a fun and energetic CD; good to have around when you are in the mood for drinking sangria and making mad love;

Andy's been pretty distraught over Jerry Garcia's death; The Grateful Dead is a major part of his childhood and teenage years; on the evening of his death, during my 6:00pm -7:00pm walk in Central Park, I stumbled right upon the big congregation of Dead Head mourners in Strawberry Fields at 72nd Street; they were clad in bright tie-dyes, sat around "the circle" enshrined by tall votives, pictures of Jerry and incense sticks in remembrance of their most humble leader -- their brightest ray of sun that brought happiness to them all; all the while, for twelve days straight, Grateful Dead music blared and diehards went to Strawberry Fields every day;

[Jerry Garcia's] birthday was August 1st [like mine!] except that I'm a Double Leo;

Mayor Giulani, concerned by the $10,000 clean-up costs and security, did not allow a tribute concert the following weekend which, needless to say, did not go over very well in NYC; this ruling, on top of the fact that he moved to raise the cost of subway tokens to over $1.50 (which includes a proposition to take away the free transportation for students;) was he kidding or what;

I think that the price of tokens will still go up, however, the students were granted the usual in transportation; that would have been the first reason for innner city kids to skip school; oh, what a so-called 'life' it is here in NYC;

Garcia's death was a big deal, though -- especially in the Northeast where they are hugely popular (albeit, thanks to New England summercamps, I'm sure;) yes, well, sarcasm aside, it could be a very good reason for their following; afterall, Andy got turned onto them by his camp counselor;

To DeadHeads, the Dead are a thing of the past, "they will never be the same," "Garcia's death marks the end of the 60's;" isn't it funny how the 60's have been gone for over 30 years and yet, to DeadHeads, they are just now accepting it;

Interesting tidbit: I found out that Jerry Garcia's birthday was August 1st (like mine;)

Back to Joe: We were trying to picture where Joe might live -- is it past the 30's on Alton Road; we love that little strip up to the 60's on Miami Beach; near to our old apartment, we were out bike riding one day and discovered an exclusive little island called La Gorce Island; do you know it; when I win the Lotto, I'll think about it;

It sure is a damn shame about the Baron, Betty; if only you could love him; but I definitely agree with you on your reasons for not travelling with him; besides, the lunch dates sound wonderful enough; may I suggest a word of advice, therefore; do not mention too much about your lunch dates to Joe or to anyone else with whom you may become serious;

You've been through enough with all that jealousy crap with MS, so you know why I'm writing this; besides, let's turn the tables; if the man you love is having a lovely, innocent time with a rich woman (without you,) would you appreciate it; I know that you prefer to be "open and honest" -believe me, I am an open book; however, I've learned to be quieter about "those kind of friends;" I mean, "those kind of friendships" are innocent but better left unsaid; if not, they won't happen anymore; just think; most men don't tell us everything, or do they; I am no longer so naive, in that sense; it isn't a lie per se; it just isn't brought up; besides, what is best for your soul; remember that you asked me, "what was my lesson with MS;" perhaps that was it; it certainly was a big issue between the two of you; MS' masseuse, Lino, Isali, Ms. England, his friends, your boardwalk exercises;

RE: Alex;

I can't believe that Alex is buying that Honda Accord from you, betty; I'm so very excited for him; I should send him some cash; I'm so excited for him, really;

RE: Rob;

So, Rob's still bouncing around with school and odd jobs, huh; I know how he feels as it is very rough to juggle those two; do you realize that I've attended college for over six years, on and off;'' well, I took many risks and wasn't focused on well, anything really, after I left Expeditors International; they screwed me up a bit at Expeditors; I was so interested on moving up the corporate ladder, I gave everything to that mini-career; all I did was work, work, work; then I got stuck in all the red tape of glass ceiling corporations at my young and tender age of twnety-two and neglected school for a long while; which, led me to move out of living with Carlos and subsequently that, led to four more housing moves that same year until I moved into an apartment with Andy on Miami Beach; Andy (sort of) encouraged me to quit Expeditors International to go back to school; I began working for temp agencies and enrolled at FIU; Andy left Miami to seek employment in NYC shortly thereafter; a few months later, I moved in with Les and went to school full-time until I was hired by Bacardi Imports; the rest is recent history;

It's so much better that Rob is so young during his nebulous stage and finshes up school as quickly as possible; perhaps Gainesville is truly the best route for him; I think Rob has a great point; if he goes, don't tell I said this but I'll enclose a few meal checks in my letters to him as he'll need the support; whether he spends it on beer, pot, food, jeans, trips, whatever, he'll need it because that cramming is just awful; sometimes, you've just gotta break free from the jumbled up mess, you know; he better maintain a 2.7 GPA at the least;

I'm working on an exciting confidential project at work with my boss, the Senior Vice President, for her client; her client is a pioneer in technological Internet programs; their latest idea is to create a competition aimed at high school students via the Internet; the student teams are challenged to design a "learning tool" via the Internet to other students which will provide them with expanded learning; the proposed tool can be utilized for any course of study (ie physics, math, sports, english, science, linguistics, home;] furthermore, the proposals will be judged on various criteria; they must be creative and user-friendly; the projected announcement date was originally December 1996 -- I'm trying to get it pushed up to early November -- mainly because they expect at least eight (8) months in worktime for the company plus, its sponsors plan on holding an Awards Gala Dinner;

It hasn't been that long since I've been in high school and at the meeting for the Focus Group on research, I brought very valid points to the table; my boss at Makovsky, Inc beamed as she told me how proud she was of me; she and I are in charge of this project now; pretty neat stuff;

She invited me to lunch on Thursday; we had sushi and talked over many issues I had written up to ask her about (three legal pages;) she was pleasantly shocked; we covered alot of improvements/expectations/requirements which I felt were necessary; apparently, there were several Account Coordinators and Account Executives (fresh out of college, mind you) whom were under the impression that could give me certain "kinds" of assignments (they clearly DO NOT want to to;) I professionally handled their requests but also made me priorities quite clear;

This was all cleared up after we had lunch; my boss [at Makovsky} sent the group an e-mail where she quite sternly elaborated on matters such as "Bibi's tasks will only be assigned to her by myself and [the other two Vice Presidents whom were my supervisors at Makovsky, too;] it was an important e-mail because it helped to assure that I do not have an uncooperative team attitude or anything, simply stated, that I have a specific job description; of course, "bending" would be required in a crunch;

xo,

"Bibikins"

Gone for All Eternity;

Don't forget to MAKE A WISH :) Bibi.

      Soul Letters Part Four is preceded by Soul Letters Part Three which, in my opinion, is quite humorous, lol--Bibi Luzarraga.
